A project, displaying concurrent execution of large design projects with speed, efficiency, cost effectiveness and most importantly, high quality. All this, courtesy multiple remote design teams working within the Canvs Club design system.

Recently, Canvs Club kickstarted a major design exercise with Aditya Birla Health Insurance. The project encompassed redesigning multiple products deployed by ABHI to it’s customers and sales teams, and designing some that were in the pipeline. The timelines were aggressive and Canvs Club was a new model of collaborative work that a major player in the ecosystem had just agreed to vet. Here are a few words shared by Hrishikesh Kunte, the VP of Digital at ABHI. How did it all go? Here’s one of Club’s major users, speaking for us.

Hrishi, what key challenges did you face that led you to re-assess ABHI’s products?

We were facing multiple problems before Canvs came in, some of them being low coding standards, lack of UI/UX expertise and cost of management. These factors together, slowed our speed to market with the products.

How did you try and solve those problems before Canvs came on-board?

We landed up over-managing projects in order to meet timelines. The involvement of senior stakeholders during the basic design and build phases became an unrealistic pipeline for our products. Product conceptualisation is the job of the internal team while design and dev execution is something we have our design partners for. However in order to make sure product timelines stay sacrosanct while there is no compromise on quality we ended up spending quite some time trying to execute these projects from ground up. We also hosted code audits by third party vendors to ensure quality.

How did Canvs step in to solve these problems?

Canvs’ elastic team strength work model not only brought in speed, but was also cost efficient for us. Their diverse community of designers brought in a new stream of approaches and thoughts and their expertise in coding also led us to a better user experience in our products.

Canvs’ elastic team strength work model not only brought in speed, but was also cost efficient for us.

How was your experience working with a distributed, remote design team?

Pretty neat. Even though there were a few hesitations at the start, we’ve worked together on 5 projects and each of them have been successfully executed. I am very confident about the model and the team at Canvs now.

How do you see remotely held design teams fitting in with large scale projects at a firm like ABHI, in the future?

I see no issues in the model and the team at Canvs. It’s working perfectly for us till now.

We’d like to thank Hrishi for trying out Canvs Club’s new model in his team. It goes without saying that good work happens when everyone has a buy in, and ABHI has been a fantastic client to work with.
