Why do you think it is important for AAPI’s to be involved in public service?

There’s a saying, “If you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu.”

As AAPIs, we see and engage with the world around us with a unique cultural lens, one that is crucial in helping identifying gaps for the betterment of this country. It is then imperative that we bring our lived experiences and cultural competency to spaces in which decisions that impact our very communities are being made, spaces that may otherwise be lacking the robust representation of the United States’ ethos and diverse vibrancy.

Name one person you look up to and explain why.

As a set, my parents, for their courage and vision in charting our lives in pursuit of the American Dream, for teaching me the power of kindness always, and for the sacrifices they have made and continue to make for our Taiwanese American family.

Please share one piece of advice or a hope that you have for the future of Asian America.

One hope that I have for the future of Asian America is our collective push in elevating our voices in all sectors, boldly and unapologetic - advice I need to take for myself still at times.

Lastly, what is your favorite or go-to comfort food and why?

Soup! I could drink soup all day. It’s basically a warm hug but flavorable and in a bowl!
