Over the years, Capgemini has worked with most central government bodies in the UK and part of this is to ensure we meet the exacting standards that are part of the Government Digital Service (GDS) Government Digital Service — GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) standards.

This standard provides a common language and look and feel for all government websites, whether internal or external. A common approach is essential to ensure each service does not have to be re-learnt; defining a UI standard that ensures users can complete their task the first time, in the simplest way possible. It is also essential that every user is considered, whatever their ability. The GDS standard ensures accessibility standards are baked into every service and no group is excluded.

Government agencies are not alone in ensuring the adoption of the Power Platform; their needs are no different from any other organisation. Legacy and shadow IT form part of most organisations, and empowering business technologists across the departments is essential to ensure the employee and user experiences match the increased demand for applications that map to the more remote workforce, whether it is sailors or investigators.

The Power Platform can be the answer for these challenges, but ensuring that the apps that are created align to the standards set out by GDS is a challenge that we have faced across Capgemini UK and one that we see repeatedly, leading our team to create GDS aligned controls and accelerator to ensure projects can get up and running rapidly. Giving a framework to the visual aspects of a Power App ensures that projects can rapidly meet the expected standards and ROI is quickly met.

Provide a standard look and feel

Our framework allows users with similar controls and structures that are presented across central government environments. Whether it is collating data for simple HR processes, or multiple forms for improving business processes, our controls can provide a similar experience and allow citizen developers the tools to drive adoption and gain approval of their apps.

Sample Claims

These controls can be used whatever the data source. Whether it is SharePoint, Dataverse or data via the 700+ connectors available, providing a custom feel for data entry and review is essential.
