Cappasity for Art: Now You Can Digitize Any Artwork in 3D
Watch art come alive in 3D
Cappasity is excited to introduce a set of powerful tools for creating immersive experiences in art.
- A SaaS platform for fast creation and easy embedding of 3D content into websites, mobile applications, and augmented reality (AR).
- Easy 3D Scan — software for 3D content production in professional studios. Perfectly suited for digitizing sculptures, paintings, and other artworks in 3D.
- Cappasity for Paintings — Easy 3D Scan extension that generates a 3D View of a painting from just one photo.
Let’s take a look at some case studies to better illustrate the capabilities of these tools.
Is it possible to create a 3D demonstration from a single photo?
The answer is yes. At Cappasity, we developed a plugin for Easy 3D Scan that uses AI and Machine Learning to do just that. Here’s Jean-Michel Basquiat’s 1982 painting “Portrait of A-One A.K.A King” that you can view in 3D.
Despite being digitized with the help of a single photo, the 3D demonstration allows the user to appreciate the texture of the painting, making the experience feel immersive.
For those who would like to get a perspective usually unavailable to the public, there’s a way.
Shot at a professional studio, this 3D demonstration provides viewers with a chance to examine even the back of the painting. With 3D demonstrations, there’s no need for an expert to be physically present during the initial examination.
From its auction and exhibition history to its provenance and notes from the artist on which way is ‘Up’, the details found on the back of the painting can now be discovered in 3D.
The Intricate details of the sculptures created by artist Vasily Klyukin for his In Dante Veritas exhibition would’ve been impossible to appreciate with traditional 2D photos. Thanks to 3D visualization, the viewer can examine the piece in detail: zoom-in or out or rotate it.
3D demonstrations can also be used for educational purposes. The New York Academy of Art, for instance, allowed its sculptors and mixed-media artists to accurately and beautifully showcase their work like never before.
The Sculpture Concentration provides students with a functional-working understanding of the conceptual and formal…
You can examine a demo of the Virtual Gallery composed of the best students’ works on Steam or view the demo in the browser. (The demo is not compatible with mobile devices. Use Arrow Keys and Mouse to control the movement.)
Would you like to watch art come alive in 3D with your own eyes?
If so, we’d be glad to see you at Anizotropia, an international art show that will feature seven pieces by famous contemporary Russian sculptor, Valentin Korzhov. Anizotropia marks the first online exhibition of Art Catch, an international online art gallery, and its first experience with 3D visualization.
