Cappasity was the first to create a cross-platform solution for quick digitizing of objects and their 3D demonstration. Today, the Cappasity 3D solution is widely used by online retailers, and the company has started its expansion into other verticals.

The important news for the development of the Cappasity project, in a strategic sense, is Cappasity’s platform will be utilized by students at US artistic higher educational institutions. Each future artist will have an opportunity to register on the platform for free and showcase their works in a new interactive format — 3D View.

“As of now, the Cappasity platform provides students at the New York Academy of Art with an opportunity to showcase their art portfolios on a website or by using a mobile device, and in the future on augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) applications”, said Kosta Popov, Cappasity founder and CEO.

Peter Drake, Dean of Academic Affairs at the New York Academy of Art, noted, “The New York Academy of Art was the first school to access Cappasity, and we shared its capabilities with our sculpture students and faculty. The creation of an easy-to-use digitization platform for 3D artworks has allowed New York Academy of Art sculptors and mixed-media artists to accurately and beautifully showcase their work like never before. We expect Cappasity to become the “industry standard” for art schools’ websites in the next few years, and were honored to be able to pioneer the program.”

What are the benefits of the Cappasity 3D View format?

The Cappasity 3D View format allows an artist to convey an experience of interaction with an object, this is appealing as it is an experience most similar to a real live physical experience, but through the Internet. For instance, a sculptor embeds 3D images of their art pieces on a web page and visitors can carefully study them in great detail from all angles and evaluate the textures due to photorealistic quality of the images.

“It is also worth mentioning our technological solution is fully accessible for wider and differing applications. Any institutions, no matter what their budget, can utilize the Cappasity 3D technology. To create a 3D image of an object, one needs regular photo equipment and our software. The whole process, from set-up to embedding, only takes several minutes,” said Kosta Popov, Cappasity founder and CEO.

“We are negotiating with several educational institutions and plan to sign at least 30 agreements that will allow educational institutions to use the platform for free, until end of 2018.”

NEW YORK ACADEMY OF ART

Founded in 1982 by artists, scholars and patrons of the arts, including Andy Warhol, the New York Academy of Art is a graduate school and cultural institution that combines intensive technical training in the fine arts with active critical discourse. The Academy believes that rigorously trained artists are best able to realize their artistic vision. Academy students are taught traditional methods and techniques and encouraged to use these skills to make vital contemporary art. Through major exhibitions, a lively speaker series, and an ambitious educational program, the Academy serves as a creative and intellectual center for all artists dedicated to highly skilled, conceptually aware figurative and representational art.
