Both reading and writing are complex tasks; and students who struggle with one, often struggle with the other.

Students with dyslexia or other learning difficulties often encounter the following roadblocks in their classes:

  • They may write more slowly than their classmates
  • They may have poor handwriting
  • They could have difficulty switching between reading one document and writing on another (as with an exam that has reference materials)

It can be difficult for students with different learning needs to complete traditional worksheets on paper. Our writing supports enable students to type on top of their worksheets and proofread their answers with text-to-speech.

Our newest (and most anticipated) writing feature now includes more accessibility options and helps keep the consistency of all your supports in one platform.

Why should you try Capti with your students?

  • Teachers and students only need to learn one program. Capti includes reading supports, writing supports, text-to-speech, and much more!
  • The ability to write on pdfs and worksheets is helpful for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, or those who have an audial preference.
  • Capti’s writing feature takes some of the anxiety out of testing by giving students access to the supports they need to be successful.
  • Our writing supports were designed to be used along with our reading supports such as text-to-speech and text customization.
The text box allows users to customize their text’s format, color, and size for easy reading!

It can be hard to imagine utilizing a new program; so, here’s an example of a common workflow many teachers are already using with their students:

  1. The teacher takes a photo of a worksheet (or uploads a PDF) and shares it with her student by adding it to her shared Capti Voice playlist
  2. The student now has access to the worksheet and can listen to it using text-to-speech
  3. The student adds highlights and annotations while reading the passage to pull out key points which may be referenced in the questions
  4. Student selects questions and chooses “Play Selection”. After listening to the question Capti automatically pauses, the section can also be replayed.
  5. Student clicks on the “Write on Page” located in the top right corner of the screen. A new text box appears and the student can personalize how text looks by choosing the font, size, color, background color, line spacing, and more.
  6. The student types the answers in the text box and can listen to them with high-quality text to speech for accuracy
  7. Position the text box in the required location on your worksheet
  8. Submit the worksheet to the teacher. The student may now print the worksheet (or save it as a PDF) and submit to the teacher. They can adjust print settings to include their highlights from the page as well as their written answers.
