A sleek body
flows from me.

No fingers,
no toes,

exposed spine
gaunt,
winding white.

I swaddle her
in newspaper:
little fish and chips:
neither fish nor chips.

Tessa Livingstone is an MFA candidate at Portland State University, where she teaches poetry writing and serves as poetry editor for the Portland Review.
