On Sep 29th, CarBlock CMO Kevin Jiang participated the AMA live at CarBlock telegram group https://t.me/CarBlockGlobal. The following are the Q&As that have been heatedly discussed .

Blockchain is still in its infant stage and the market is super volatile, we are working hard to achieve what we promised.

Q: My car doesn’t have cigarette lighter but the mining machine should be plugged into it. Are there any other ways to mine tokens?

Kevin J: Yes, we are about to roll out our next and most important mining machine, the all-dimensional car data mining machine which you’d plug it into your vehicle’s OBD port. We have finished the test in China and will start to sell in China around mid-October

Also, we’ve secured over 20 ppl in Korea and US to test them out in those two areas given the hardware is a tricky thing which needs a lot localization work to be done. This is the new mining machine, just FYI.

Q: Will car be migrating to a native blockchain? If yes, how will the node structure be like?

Kevin J:We are not building our own public chain, rather we are building a protocol layer to help all teams within the automotive industry to easily build their own Dapps through us.

Given automotive industry is such a massive one and the services within the industry varies from insurance, maintenance, used-car trading, to new things like autonomous driving, V2X tech, different Dapps might require really different capabilities from the public chain, so we are working closely with other top notch public chains like ONT, EOS and Bytom to ensure a multi-chain approach, and Dapp developers down the road can basically choose their preferred infrastructure depending on their own needs.

Q: We will remain erc20 token?

Kevin J: For now, yes. The tech team is also digging the COSMOS algorithm to see what’s the best case for a multi-chain deployment, things might change down the road but in the short run, def erc20 for sure.

Q: But eth will migrate from pow to pos. Then the mining machine can’t be used?

Kevin J: We won’t be affected by the consensus mode of ETH, all the mining machines can be upgraded to fit whatever change the token encounters using an OTA method, so no worry about that.

Q: When are you going to hit a new exchange and which one?

Kevin J: This year it’s all about building our application and have the first real-business transaction happened on our platform, also we are about to start more user-operation practices with our 400,000 users back in the US to let them experience the benefits that blockchain technology can bring to them even without knowing what blockchain is. When we acquire enough active users, who are constantly contributing driving data and being super supportive (which should be way easier than any other projects out there), it is a no-brianer that major exchange would want us to be listed.

As that being said, it is only logic and serves the greater good for us to really build our ecosystem first, rather than spending a lot of effort and $ just to seek being listed on majoy exchanges

Q: When will be the new mining machine launch? Any detail can we see?

Kevin J: It will be launched in china mid Oct, US and Korea preferably around mid. Nov depending on how the testing goes, but def within 2018.

Q:How will CAR utilize the ONTnetwork? As CAR is ONTs ecosystem partner. But erc20. Please elaborate on this topic.

Kevin J: As I just mentioned, we are building a protocol layer through a multi-chain approach, so ONT will be one of our major partners in the infrastructure layer, given they are really good in terms of the UID system, things like driver identification, data authentication might be built on them. It’s really about getting the best out of each public chain rather than sticking to just one chain.

Q: Jun Li, ONT founder, said: “All ONT ecosystem partners will airdrop via onto candy box” — any details?

Kevin J: Yes, we’ve talked to them about the airdrop, they are quite busy right now flying all over the globe during meetups and conference, will def get back to it once things get quite up a bit. We want to do airdrops to car owners within their community and right now this request hasn’t been met yet, so we will do some tech integration in terms of that, but def, it is a request from their end and we’ve agreed on it since the very beginning.

Q: Has car suffered since erc20 fomo 3d?

Kevin J: Suffered from fomo 3d in terms of??? If we are talking about the price drop, I don’t think fomo3d is the reason here, it’s just the market overall is really bearish right now. If we are talking about the traffic congestion, I think what Fcoin has brought to the eth network is def more severe than the fomo3d. With that being said, i don’t think fomo3d has done anything significant to us.

Q: How many smart all-dimensional car data mining machines are you going to produce and when it will be available for purchasing?

Kevin J: We’ve produced thousands of them for the Chinese market. Future production will be aligned with our sales condition just to aviod dumping too much cash at once. Purchase for the chinese users will be available around mid.Oct. US and korean market will be open after that. Globally wise, not sure yet, cuz it is a lot of localization work to do, and the product team has been working really hard on it to find the best way to make this product universally available.

Q: What are the differences and your main advantages in comparison with other blockchain projects in automotive industry that work with data (like CarVertical, AMO Coin)?

Kevin J: Couple things I can point out what are quite unique.

1)We are the only blockchain project with a substantial exisiting user base and the ability to product hardware for data collection, which allows us to make a working application even without external data source. All the other projects claiming to do the same like we do are having a hardtime getting the data they want, some of them even contacted us expressing their interest in buying data from us.

2) Team wise, we have ppl from the blockchain sector, senior executives from OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, experienced entrepreneurs with successful track record and we’ve been working together in the auto industry for over years. Given the team is what matters at the end of the day, I think we have the best credential in that regard.

3) Approach wise, we are the only blockchain project right now that actually has the opportunity to talk to different OEMs, suppliers and big players in the auto industry, don’t think the others are doing the same. If you followed us closely, you’d know how deep of a connection we’ve built in that regard.

Q:In future will you expand to other countries? Opening offices, conferences..etc

Kevin J: Currently, China and US are most important market for us because of the sheer volume of crypto investors and where the majority of our user is. Korea sounds to be another promising market to explore as well and we’ve had our Community manager for that market as well. Europe wise, we just had the former VP of Deutsche Bank London office join us as the head of customer success, he will be responsible to take CarBlock to the whole european market from his own personal resources and expertise, so yes we are building stuff globally, it’s just about priority and pace. Our CEO, Alex Lee is actually in Munich right now, talking to MOBI and BMW executives in their munich headquater, will see what he’ll bring back to us. Also, munich Re is another of our partner which has a strong hold in the european market, and we are working with legal expert to discuss applications compliant with the EU’s GDPR regulation. So yes, def lots of real businesses are happening in the European market.

Q: What is your strategy for the next 3–5 months?

Kevin J: Getting our POC ready, getting the mining machines to the hands of as many users as possible, form meaningful relationship with leading companies in the auto industry, and finally make ordinary ppl like you and me really benefit from this tech for our day to day life.

Q: Which hair gel do you use?
Kevin J: lol….I use one brand called uppercut, reason for that? Cuz it’s super strong in terms of the holding power. So. HODL guys!!
