John Barnes is a Partner in PwC’s Risk Assurance practice. John joined PwC, Beijing practice in 2005 before moving to Hong Kong in 2012. He is the National Risk Assurance Risk & Quality Leader for PwC China and Hong Kong. He is an information systems audit specialist with over 20 years of experience. He is responsible for managing key clients of PwC in Hong Kong and Southern China, providing services relating to sustainability & climate change, regulatory assurance, audit assurance, business & IT process improvement, IT & environmental due diligence, data management, internal audit, project assurance and risk reviews, business contingency planning, information security (including Personal Data Privacy) and corporate governance. In his tenor at PwC, John also led the the advisory practice for the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting.

Before joining PwC, he worked in another Big 4 firm for 10 years in London and Hong Kong. Prior to that he spent several years working in the Financial Services, Rail and Local Government sectors, based in the UK where he specialised in Fraud investigations, Management Audit, Treasury, Financial Accounting, IT and Internal Audit.

John’s can-do attitude, collaborative working style, action focused approach and a strong commitment to help people to be their best have resulted in shaping the culture and solution that Carbon Grid Protocol will be able to provide to enterprises. ESG reporting is a huge element for Carbon Grid Protocol.

John is an FCCA (Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants) and an FHKICPA (Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Professional Accountants).
