Culture Matters

Carbono Team!

As a HR Specialist at Carbono, I’ve had the opportunity to develop my skills at different organizations through the years. The most important aspects that I’ve found to be direct contributors to the (a healthy) culture in the organization, is when people feel listened, appreciated, and in charge of something bigger than them.

Most people think that a “great job” means having everything under control/a routine, but it couldn’t be farther away from the truth. What I mean, is that on some organizations, such as Carbono, not only do people have a chance to make things happen and to be heard, but they are expected to speak up and contribute as well.

So, why is this important to culture? Or why does it even matter?

Companies with a better known, robust, and engaging culture can reach up to 20% more productivity as well as fewer turn-over rate than the companies with weak cultures. This means that employees turn into long-term friends and as such, they stick and work together, and watch each other’s backs. This helps with a better understanding and support of our identity, to lift the over-all morale of the team, and greater engagement to the company, its values, culture, and its goals.

How about happiness? Anybody remember happiness? Surround yourself with what makes you happy. Happiness shouldn’t be something that belongs outside the workplace.

“When people go to work, they shouldn’t have to leave their hearts at home”

Betty Bender

In a way, what we are trying to achieve is for people to see the company working back for them too. Once we start to see and feel this, we can really notice the difference of happiness-oriented culture. This is what EPIC Culture feels like.
