To continue with the introduction of our team to the world, here are some more great people that make up Carbono:

Meet Claudia, UXUI Designer Intern for Carbono.

A song that everybody should listen to?
“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. I think it’s a song that has a little bit of everything and makes everyone dance and sing. It has a little bit of piano at the beginning, then the other instruments join in; everybody loves this song! It’s almost like a metaphor for teamwork because of the way the song progresses.

What is a meal or drink that you enjoy preparing?
Veggie lasagna or aguachiles. Aguachiles is a traditional dish in Sinaloa and that’s where they prepare it with the best recipe! I like preparing aguachiles with a bit of spicy ingredients and take my time to prepare it. It has shrimp, tomatoes, some cucumber, corn, and lemon.

Someplace you would like to travel to?
Manchester in England. That’s where my favorite team plays: Manchester United. I would love to go to Old Trafford (Manchester United’s stadium) to a football match. A lot of football legends have played in MU. I like the British lifestyle, weather, and touristic sites. Another aspect that I really relate to is the sense of humor they have.

Do you have a nickname?
Just “Clau”, or “Claudita”. Not that I know of.

A fun fact about yourself?
I have a twin sister, and I have a collection of items from the concerts I’ve been to. I have drum sticks, guitar pics, stuff like that. One of my favorite’s are the drum sticks from a Phoenix concert here at Monterrey. Also, I like to read a lot and my favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla.

A phrase or 3 words that best describe you?
Optimistic, creative, and passionate. I think of myself as “passionate” because I really get into what I spend my time on. Creative because I think that can find a solution to everything, and optimistic because I really like to keep a smile on my face and to spread good vibes.

Meet Efraín, CEO at Carbono.

A song that everybody should listen to?
“Yesterday” by The Beatles. It always makes me think about things and in general a very relaxing song.

What is a meal or drink that you enjoy preparing?
My specialty is spicy salsas. I’m always making experiments trying new recipes for salsas using different ingredients. This is something I’ve enjoyed for a while. The one I like the best is made with habanero with avocado and cream. This is a perfect dip to use as a snack before a meal.

Someplace you would like to travel to?
There are a lot of different places I’d like to go to, but mainly Peru. It’s a place with a lot of history, great gastronomy, and mostly Machu Pichu because it has a great architectural development. Another option would be Holy Land because it has a lot of historical richness despite the religious-point-of-view. I’m always interested in destinations that are historically rich so I can learn about the importance that the landmark has.

Do you have a nickname?
Since I was a kid my smaller brother called me “Pin” because he couldn’t say my name properly. When I went to elementary school, my friends kept calling me like that it stuck with me through all the way through college.

A fun fact about yourself?
As a kid I was scared of the dark, so with the need to help me, my mom basically dragged me into dark places so I could face my fears, but it didn’t really help until I was around 10 years old that I overcame that fear. I am normal now, don’t worry.

A phrase or 3 words that best describe you?
Persevering, fun, and humbleness. I’ve always tried to learn both from my successes but also from my mistakes, so it’s important to stay open to always learn and be a better version of ourselves. Fun because I like to enjoy everything I do, I mean, what’s the point of doing something if you’re not going to enjoy doing it? Humbleness because specially my dad taught me to be humble and keep my feet on the ground at all times.
I think it’s important to have your own philosofy of life, because you only live once, so it’s really important to make something great out of this life.

Meet Jocelyn, Front End Developer at Carbono.

A song that everybody should listen to?
“Shout!” by Isley Brothers because every time I listen that song I get really pumped up and excited. It’s a song that should be on every party to get everyone on their feet.

What is a meal or drink that you enjoy preparing?
Breaded meat with mac n’ cheese and mashed potatoes. If I knew the recipe for brisket I would also prepare that, but that will be later.

Someplace you would like to travel to?
London, or different places in Europe. London basically for all the Harry Potter locations but even more I’ve always wanted to go to Germany and other places relevant in the WWII. I’ve thought of Germany, some places in France, and Poland. I think going there and visiting all those places would allow me to show respect to everything that happened there.

Do you have a nickname?
Everybody eventually starts calling me “Jo” as in short for Jocelyn and I’m ok with that, sounds fun.

A fun fact about yourself?
I’ve never eaten a banana. NEVER. When I was a kid I didn’t even stand the smell of them. Apparently my mom didn’t even eat them when she was pregnant with me, I don’t know if that has something to do with it. Also, I’m thinking of sometime in the future to start adopting dogs and allow people to adopt some of them;

A phrase or 3 words that best describe you?
Hyperactive, slightly hippie, and sarcastic.

Meet Jorge, HR Specialist at Carbono.

A song that everybody should listen to?
I can think of at least 50 of them, but maybe just “Lynyrd Skynyrd-Free bird”, “Procol Harum-A whiter shade of pale”, and “El son de la negra”. The first two songs have this nostalgic feeling around them and are very well written and with great musical arrengements back from the 60’s and 70's. “El son de la negra” is one of the most iconic mexican-folk songs played by mariachis that gets everyone on their feet tapping and drinking tequila.

What is a meal or drink that you enjoy preparing?
My most important achievement is to have learned to prepare “café de olla” (or pot coffee). It consists of adding blended coffee, cinnamon sticks, piloncillo, clove, and anise. It’s a very traditional mexican drink specially for cold weather. The first cup of coffee is on me.

Someplace you would like to travel to?
There are a lot of places like: Buenos Aires, Antigua (in Guatemala), Cuba, Colombia, England, and Germany. I think that if I have the chance to travel to England, I’ll bring back with me a full case of The Beatles’ souvenirs because I’m a huge fan. I prefer to travel to places with a lot of history and that have a lof of good restaurants and coffee places.

Do you have a nickname?
Some people call me “George”, when I was a kid some of my aunts called me “Jorjonio”, and some of my friends from high school call me “Tortu”.

A fun fact about yourself?
I play guitar, ukulele, and a little bit of vihuela. I don’t like to eat sliced tomatoes and onions, I only like them chopped (yes, I am aware this is weird). I don’t like wearin long-sleeved-shirts, I always use my sleeves rolled up.

A phrase or 3 words that best describe you?
“The most productive work comes out of a happy person” by Victor Pauchet. I believe in this quote because we all are ruled by feelings and emotions, and we belong where our heart is. Some of us have the joy to find happiness at work, or with our families and friends, but the key is to always consider our own and everyone else’s happiness.
