This is an update about Cardstack’s Token Generation Event, redirecting from https://cardstack.com/tge-update-20180214

Update: The TGE has concluded.

Dear Cardstack community,

Thank you for your support. We’re very excited about the growth of our project, and have been encouraged by your enthusiasm since we announced our Token Generation Event on February 1. Today we have updates for you about the three rounds of our fundraiser.

If you’re unsure where you fit in, please refer to this handy flowchart before reading the rest of this blog post. (For a full-size version, click here.)

You may contribute in one of the fundraising rounds.

Cardstack Token Generation Event (TGE) Flowchart for Batch A, B, and C

Strategic contributors (Batch A)

As many of you may know, we are allocating a portion of tokens to early contributors (Batch A) who are offering strategic services to Cardstack.

We’ve received many questions about our criteria for early contributors. To summarize in one word: diversity. We want the Cardstack community to be made of users from around the world, with different kinds of skills, experience, and influence in their communities.

What makes blockchain so exciting is you never know which special element will be the key to a successful project. That’s why above all, our partners have the initiative, creativity, and perseverance that we’ll need to create a decentralized Internet that works for everyone.

We’re humbled to be oversubscribed many times over for Batch A and B. That said, we’re trying to size our allocations fairly so that we can include as many strong individuals and groups as we can.

Pre-allocation (Batch B)

Update, March 6, 2018: The pre-allocation has concluded. Thank you for your support. Stay tuned for details on our crowd fundraiser.

We’re pleased to announce we will open the Cardstack Token pre-allocation (Batch B) on March 6, 2018, conducted in partnership with Bitcoin Suisse. This will be first-come, first-serve, open to community members who registered their interest on or before January 31, 2018 and have completed on-boarding and KYC/AML via Bitcoin Suisse.

There will be a minimum contribution of $1,000 USD equivalent and a maximum contribution of $50,000 USD equivalent. Given what you’ve told us about your intended contributions, this should cover nearly everyone. (Your cap may be adjusted based on the results of your AML review.)

You may contribute in ETH, BTC or any currency supported by Bitcoin Suisse. First-come, first-serve means our pre-allocation will be filled as funds arrive, so we recommend choosing a fast payment method such as ETH to ensure your contribution is included.

Since Bitcoin Suisse is accepting cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies, there may be more KYC/AML than what you may have experienced in previous fundraisers. Please submit your documentation to Bitcoin Suisse as soon as you can to make sure you can get in. Remember to use the same email address you used to contact us or sign up for our newsletter — this is your ID through the on-boarding process!

If you already have an account with Bitcoin Suisse and have participated in their prior token events recently, you may not need to go through the KYC/AML process again.

Community members who emailed us on or before January 31, 2018 at token@cardstack.com, as instructed by our Telegram group admins, are on a priority list and will be processed first. If this is you, then your chances of being processed are very good if you begin immediately.

Update, February 15, 2018: Given strong demand, if you signed up for our mailing list on or before January 31 but did not email token@cardstack.com, and you have no previous record with Bitcoin Suisse, we are unable to include you in our pre-allocation at this time. To ensure our early supporters get the experience they deserve, Bitcoin Suisse is processing the priority list and does not expect to process any contributors beyond this. However, you will receive a higher cap in our crowd fundraiser (Batch C) as symbol of our appreciation.

On a separate note, a few community members have raised concerns about the process at Bitcoin Suisse. We’ve heard your feedback, and we’ve worked closely with Bitcoin Suisse to make sure they’ve added ample staffing to efficiently process our priority list.

Crowd fundraiser (Batch C)

Last but not least, we’re very excited for our crowd fundraiser, which will be conducted on cardstack.com shortly after our pre-allocation round (onboarding date to be announced). The goal of our crowd fundraiser is to ensure the Cardstack project is accessible to the broadest community possible, and ensure a diverse distribution of Cardstack Tokens.

To participate, you will need to be whitelisted and go through KYC on cardstack.com through an self-service KYC process backed by IdentityMind Global. You won’t need a Bitcoin Suisse account for this, but if you were KYC’ed through Bitcoin Suisse for our pre-allocation round, we will honor it and you can skip this process. (Make sure you use the same email address, so that we can match your records. Please note that you may not contribute to more than one fundraising round.)

To sign up for the whitelist, please fill in the form at cardstack.com/whitelist, and we will you notify you soon with further instructions for KYC and registration.

If you joined our community on or before January 31, 2018, we want to show our thanks by offering you a higher contribution cap in the crowd fundraiser. When you sign up for whitelisting, just remember to use the same email address you used to contact us or sign up for our newsletter.

We will close our whitelist once we’ve hit an upper limit of participants, to make sure everyone’s contribution cap stays reasonable. So if you’d like to introduce friends early to the Cardstack community, the best time to do so is now.

In closing

You can see a complete overview of our fundraiser here in our White Paper.

Thank you to all of you for contributing your support and vision to the Cardstack project. With your help, we’ll be able to build the experience layer of the decentralized Internet — and create a sustainable alternative to the digital superpowers of today.

Sincerely,

The Cardstack Team
