This week, our team continued development on rolling out work-in-progress features related to the Reward Protocol and the Card Wallet implementation. Releases are being pushed to the iOS and Android app stores periodically, so users can see improved functionalities with each new successive release.

Card Compiler

On the R&D front for the Cardstack Framework, our Card Compiler team has successfully integrated a pure in-browser code editing experience built on the Monaco Editor. The definition of the Card Schema and the associated required modules is done completely full-loop without any server side component. This round trip editing approach allows us to build an experience where code editing and no-code configuration are updating the same JavaScript-based definition of the card infrastructure and its display logic, without any developer-driven deployment. This means that a developer can make changes to the code using the same method as an end user who uses a drag-and-drop tool. We are working to smooth out this experience and add more structured editing capabilities, so that we can connect this Card Schema system to the Cardstack Environment, including these advanced editing tools.

Card Pay

Our protocol team has begun working on the V2 marketplace contract for the distribution of prepaid cards. This is core work to support the creation of prepaid cards on demand vs. leveraging an inventory of prepaid cards in the market contract. This will create the ability to manufacture a new Gnosis Safe and fill it with a small amount of tokens from an existing token pool of stablecoins on demand. Not only will this allow users to purchase prepaid cards, but it creates the foundation to manufacture persona safes (profiles in Card Wallet) and will be a part of the long-term mechanism of selling Gnosis Safe-backed profiles via in-app purchases — effectively opening up the ability to create a profile in Card Wallet without the need for a prepaid card.

In addition, once the V2 market contract is rolled out, we will be able to relaunch our card drop initiative — and provide a free prepaid card to users who request a prepaid card in the app.

Upcoming Fireside Chat

Tomorrow, we will host our weekly fireside chat with Cardstack’s Founding Director, Chris Tse. This time, he will be chatting with ConsenSys’ Director of Communications, James Beck.

Register here.

Chris Tse and James Beck will discuss…

  • the growth of Web3 development in recent years,
  • the current state of development on the Ethereum blockchain,
  • the role of ConsenSys in the overall Web3 ecosystem,
