From the creators of Captain’s List, which will return… comes a new series inspired by the Generals of History. For those familiar with our other series on leadership, this will seem familiar. The formula will be a bit different however. While we reserve the right to feature an Emperor or Caesar, even an Admiral or Chief — this series will draw only from history (no fiction).

Perspective on the battlefield is the difference between glory and defeat. Perspective of history and historic figures can be educational as well. This series will seek to provide both. We won’t shy away from general just because they fell on the other side of history — even the bad guys had some great generals. Often these men, and a few women, held their own perspectives and built their own perceptions despite which side of the war they fought for.

We will also not shy from those generals who may have picked the right side, but still had questionable tactics. We will try to present all perspectives — I hope you get the point. So expect to see Lee and Sherman, Rommel and Patton, Napoleon and Nelson — winners and losers, good guys and bad, leaders who challenged perceptions and perspectives alike.

Each article will feature relevant background and technology to help you understand the context and landscape that drove each leader’s decisions. These articles will breakdown aspects of their techniques and strategies to inspire your thinking and impart some nuggets of new perspective. All in 3–5 minutes!

So tune in later this week. Our first article will be available soon. We hope that this series is as popular as its predecessor and as helpful, too. Early on in Captain’s List many readers reached out with feedback and recommendations for future subjects — we hope you do that again. We love learning about lesser known leaders, many have truly unique perspective to share.

Our first article… is here!
