How was your college life ?

OC Fluxus 2015

Founder of E-Cell, Later Student Coordinator in third year

Table Tennis Player

Violin Savvy

Two International Journal Research Papers

Plus a million fond memories

What are you doing presently?

Running my own NGO — Vivekananda Youth Initiative, currently under incubation at IIM Bangalore through Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship on rural youth skill development

What inspired you to dive into this specific field?

Grassroots innovation and technical intervention need a lot of social engineering which we are not taught in classrooms. To create an impact in society, I thought this could be a good channel. My larger aim is rural youth empowerment for a better tomorrow. The medium I have taken up to achieve this dream is skill development.

How did you prepare for the profile?

Been an entrepreneurship savvy since first year, was a founder member of E-Cell as mentioned earlier. Was Marketing Head of Fluxus in second year, got like 54 odd sponsorships, took leadership roles in third year. And, also indulged in research in final year. I believe it is necessary that as engineers we should be able to zoom in on things like researchers do and also zoom out on things like entrepreneurs do.

Your message to those whose dreams resonate with your reality?

When you step foot on the campus in first year, you become an IITian. So when you step out of the campus, let that not be your only achievement of four years. Four years is a long long period to learn and grow, make the most of it, because when it will be ending, it will feel as if you stepped in just a day ago.

Summing up

Loved interacting with the students when Alumni Cell arranged for a talk earlier this year. Would love to connect back again. I have been mostly involved in creation of sustainable industry academia networking models, I would love to help the institute on this aspect if needed.

Meanwhile if students want to have a career introspection, I have an interesting survey that they can take up. Would be happy to share the same.
