Be Patient. Your Bus Is Coming
Have you jumped on the wrong career bus?
To lose patience is to lose the battle
— Mahatma Gandhi
I was waiting for a bus home at the training station the other day. It was late into the evening, and I was pretty tired after a long day at work.
All I wanted was to get home and rest.
It isn’t too much to ask after a busy day.
Is it?
On getting to the bus station, I realised I had to wait several minutes for my bus to arrive.
The minutes I waited for my bus were the longest of the evening.
It felt like another project on its own.
The delays kept on and on. The Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) kept going up.
I felt helpless and hopeless. Seeing other people jump on their buses didn’t help either. I felt like I was all alone because I didn’t find my bus.
The more my bus was delayed, the more I felt like jumping on another bus to move on. I was so impatient that I thought of jumping on another bus despite knowing that any other bus would not lead me to my destination.
