Why It’s Important to Tell Employers How You Can Help
Hiring managers are not your mentors
A friend of mine got tired of sending online applications.
Let’s call him Ben to keep things simple.
Ben was a young graduate with no work experience. All he had was his college degree.
One afternoon, he decided to meet employers in person. He thought it might work out better this way since he had no luck with his online applications.
Ben discovered an engineering firm close to his home and decided to approach this firm.
Ben met the manager and informed him he wanted a job. The manager looked interested and requested his resume.
On sighting the resume, the manager noticed Ben had completed a degree in Agriculture and immediately informed Ben he wasn’t a great suit for the organisation.
Ben left in disappointment.
