Hyper-pigmentation of skin is popularly known as Melasma. American Academy of Dermatology has stated that melasma has hit approximately 6 million people in the United States of America. Women are more prone to skin pigmentation than men. Melasma indulges with the natural color of skin. Brown patches are formed mainly around the cheeks and other parts of the face. There can be numerous reasons to cause melasma. Some of them are stress, thyroid, consumption of birth control pills, melanin production and variation in hormones.

Spots caused by melasma are mistaken with age spots. As the spots affect the face beauty, many people are in a dilemma. Lots of treatments and cures are available in the market but they turn out into affecting your skin in the future. Instead, you can search your refrigerators, drawers and cupboards. You will find some ingredients which will definitely help you in excluding spots. Here are some home remedies.

Lemon Juice :

the acidic properties of lemon juice helps in removing the outer layer of the skin. It has the magical powers to remove the layer of spots.

  • Squeeze the juice of one lemon into a cup.
  • Apply it on the affected area for 20 minutes.
  • Rinse the area with lukewarm water.
  • For better results, follow the remedy twice a day.

Turmeric:

the active reagent present in turmeric acts as an antioxidant and is responsible for removing melasma spots. It has some really amazing skin lightening properties.

  • Mix 5 teaspoons of turmeric powder with 10 teaspoons of milk. Whole milk is better option to use because of it has lactic acid which is used to soften the skin.
  • You have an option to add 1 teaspoon flour to make the mixture thick.
  • Evenly apply the mixture on spots and let it dry for 20 minutes.
  • Rinse the area with warm water. For best results, repeat the remedy twice a week.

Oatmeal :

it is known for its natural exfoliating agent which helps in mixing the dead cells to produce a brighter skin.

  • Create a mixture of two teaspoons of oatmeal, milk and one spoon of honey.
  • Apply the mixture on the spots.
  • Let the mixture on the affected area for 20 minutes and rinse with water.
  • Perform the remedy regularly 3 times a week for a month.

Aloe vera :

Aloe Vera has mucilaginous polysaccharides, helping to remove dead cells and Hyper pigmentation from the skin leaving its natural colour to embrace the beauty.

  • Cut the leaf of aloe vera from the centre and extract the juice of it.
  • Apply the gel on the affected area and massage it thoroughly for a minute or two.
  • Leave the gel on spots for 15 minutes and rinse with the help of lukewarm water.
  • Follow the remedy twice a week for few weeks in order to obtain best results.

Onion juice :

this ingredient which you chop for every second dish can do miracles for you. It consists of certain sulphur compounds, aiding one in removing dark patches instantly.

  • Chop 2 onions finely and squeeze it in a cheese cloth.
  • Pour its juice into a container and mix equal amount of apple cider vinegar to it.
  • With the help of cotton ball, spread the mixture on the affected area.
  • After 20 minutes, wash the area with warm water.
  • Follow the remedy twice a week.

Almonds :

The nut rich in Vitamin E has some magical skin lightening effects. It opposes Skin Hyper pigmentation and promotes skin lightening.

  • Apply a mixture of powdered almond and honey to the area for 30 minutes.
  • Rinse the mixture after 30 minutes with the help of lukewarm water.
  • An alternative method is to mix powdered almonds with milk and leave the mixture on the spots for the whole night.
  • Follow the steps daily for better results.

Papaya :

Papain found in papayas helps in eliminating all the toxic elements including Melasma spots.

  • Mash a piece of papaya to obtain a paste.
  • Mixed 2 spoons of honey to the half cup of mashed papaya.
  • After applying for 20 minutes, wash it with clean water.
  • In order to obtain best results, follow the remedy at least once in a week.

These were some of the home remedies to cure Melasma. Apart from the remedies, try not to expose your skin to the sun. Apply sunscreens before leaving your home and drink plenty of water. Good food and lots of water will eliminate toxins preventing from Melasma.
