Social anxiety disorder is not that uncommon as you might be thinking

Social anxiety disorder or social phobia is a contingency to bind yourself from getting into the social situations in which you will be surrounded by strangers. It is quite common in children and cannot be compared to the disorder as it is in their nature and they take the time to get together. Some of them are naturally reserved as they keep their limits compared to others who are more outgoing. Social anxiety disorder is far more than that of nervousness as it includes fear, anxiety, and avoidance which comes your way in daily routine, work, and so many other activities.

There is certain physical, emotional, and behavioural symptoms which are linked to the disorder and the person should be consulted with the doctor.

Emotional and behavioural symptoms

  • The person who is suffering from disorder will fear to get into the social situations with a thought of getting judged.
  • There will be the limit on words and gesture with a fear of embarrassment.
  • They will not start a conversation with a stranger with a fear of interacting.
  • There are some physical symptoms like blushing, sweating, and shaky voice while interacting with the strangers.
  • They will not be in the centre of the situations as they avoid it.
  • Their mind always lets them think about the negative consequences as the future result of the conversation.
  • Once they come out of the social situation, they will analyse their performance and flaws they have conducted during the interactions.

Physical Symptoms

  • While interacting, the person will have fast heartbeat
  • Dizziness
  • Problem in the digestion system which can lead to nausea
  • Muscle tension and diarrhea
  • In social situations, the person will use a public restroom quite often compared to normal usage.
  • There will be less or no eye contact in the conversation

These are some of the symptoms of social anxiety disorder which involve the genes and the environment around the person to develop it and getting negative thoughts about the appearance. It is like another mental condition in which different factors plays a vital role and some of them are

  • Genes:

If someone in your family is suffering or has suffered from the social anxiety disorder, then there are chances that you or somebody else in your family will develop the same disorder at any point in time. It works on the genes as the same traits have been transferred to a different generation.

  • Environment:

There are no proven facts but it is believed that the disorder may be a learned behaviour. The person who is suffering from the disorder behaves in certain ways and the person who is close to him will also start to behave in the same way. As the person has learned the same traits.

  • Brain Structure :

It is also known that the brain structure of the person also shows that he might develop the disorder as the part which controls the fear works more actively than before.

. The person will have poor social skills which can let him down in personal or professional terms.

  • The thoughts will always be negative
  • There will be low self-esteem
  • The person will not reach great heights in academic and in employment
  • The person will be isolated due to the avoidance of social situations
  • With all this in mind, the person can attempt to suicide

These are some of the symptoms and causes of which the person and if they are in children, parents should be aware and should consult a doctor for a treatment. Symptoms can vary from person to person and should provide the key information if these symptoms were appeared after any particular instance or not. There should a session in which your doctor should be aware of your condition and if you are on any medication or drugs as this information can help you to come out from the disorder.
