(reflective) monthly quote:

“keep the problem going so the money keeps flowing”

Another month another recap, let’s take a look at the community activity in the CuraDAO.

One of the benefits of a DAO is the level of (financial) transparency it can provide. Similarly, in CuraDAO’s case, this information is easily accessible by looking at the smart contract address of the DAO on Etherscan (or any other Ethereum blockchain explorer). So lets take a look at some statistics.

Financials

In the picture below we can see that the past 2 months, around 4.4 ETH has entered the CuraDAO holdings most likely from donations. Probably, a result of the website built by one of the members (see website proposal).

Currently, CuraDAO holds 8.95 ETH and 1200 GEN which puts the organization at a value of $1,362 on this date of publication.

Proposals

The month of November was a month of quite some proposal activity for the CuraDAO (see image below).

CuraDAO proposals for November (Alchemy)

A total of seven proposal were created, of which 6 where passed and one failed.

Runy Calmera received 200 reputation points (REP) for a project in which he will deliver 25 used computers to an after school program in Barber. Three people participated in the voting process (8.19% of the total reputation in the group) of which all voted for (congrats Runy).

The Moloch DAO, or someone from the moloch DAO also created a proposal but it did not pass, however, only one person voted against this scam.

Luuk Weber created two proposals in November, one requesting around 0.41 ETH and 250 REP for extra occurred costs related to a previous proposal for the CuraDAO website. 4 people participated in voting on this proposal everyone voted for (15% of the total reputation).

In another proposal, Luuk asked for a total of 1.25 ETH and 175 REP. in this proposal luuk aims to created a map of all of the institutions involved in education, sustainability and entrepreneurship (more about the proposal here). A total of two people voted for this proposal, one for one against. the vote for had a total of 5% of the total reputation and the vote against had a total of 2% reputation relative to the total (congratz Luuk).

CuraDAO welcomes Patrick Scannel to the DAO, a proposal was passed with a request of 300 REP on his behalf (happy proposing and voting Patt). A total of three people participated in this proposal (representing 9.51% of the total REP of the DAO), all voting for.

Doug Kent also created a proposal in which he asked to reduce his reputation by 550 REP, effectively removing him from the whale status (thanks Doug)🙏. For people participated in this vote, everyone voting for (representing 17% of the total CuraDAO reputation).

Finally, Youth for climate change created a proposal for acquiring materials for cleanup, they want to bring awareness about environmental problems on Curacao (good luck guys). 6 people participated in this vote (representing 20% of the total CuraDAO reputation).

Phew, that’s it for the proposals.

Reputation

Now, lets look at how reputation is currently distributed among members in the CuraDAO (see figure below).

Voting-Power Distribution CuraDAO

From the pie chart it is clear that some consolidation of voting power is starting to take place in the DAO. However, the power is still quite evenly distributed and could become even more if more members of the community created proposals and help curate proposals.
