This is a summary of the last two weeks. However before we get into that, I feel that it’s appropriate to have a moment of remembrance for the people who lost their live in the Pittsburgh shooting, which is where our two weeks start off. Hashem Yakum dammam.

Now first, some information. The project that I’m currently working on is the Hebrew website for Carmel 6000, which you can view at: Carmel 6000. This project has been both challenging and rewarding, the challenges of thankfully to learning experiences that have been very welcome.

Starting out I expected that there would be problems, but quickly came to the realisation that the problems are never actually what you expect. Which I guess is why they are the actual problems, since you didn’t have the time to prepare for them, unlike the expected problems.

Anyway, since now you have the necessary info about what I have been working on, I shall inform you about all the interesting things that have happened here over the last fourteen days.

On Monday the 29th of October, a group from the Ministry of Education, and from Shlomit, came to talk to us about the work we are doing here, and how we feel about the sherut and the year so far.

Each of us had the chance to talk about our personal experiences, and air any feedback we might have. Later that day, in the evening, I went to a meeting for the girls who volunteered to help make the presentation video for Carmel 6000. (And if you were wondering, yes going to meetings is a super cool thing to say to people)

Ministry Of Education Visit

On Thursday the 1st of November, the whole group went to the Ilanot school for children with special needs, to hear a specialist talk about different types of kids they have in the school, and different ways to make technology accessible to them.

Every Sunday, we have morning lessons with Dr. Shlomo Kipnis, and Sunday the 4th of November was no different. These lessons are in place to help us more fully understand certain subjects that either we haven’t had time to study carefully, or that multiple people have come forward saying they are having trouble with it.

And then after the work day was done, nine girls and I stayed much later to take part in a course to learn something new that hopefully will come in handy in later projects. For instance I am learning about android development. We are doing this course through an amazing organization called “She Codes”, which is a nonprofit to help further woman in high-tech.

The umbrella organization for Carmel6000 is רשת אמי”ת, and so on Monday the 5th of November, girls grade 11 and 12 from all over the country who go to schools from this organization came to check us out to see if they would be interested in trying out to do their national service in Carmel 6000. (Which you can also do, on our website Carmel 6000)

On Tuesday, the 6th of November, I had another meeting for the presentation video for carmel 6000 (look back at Monday the 29th of November). A big part of staying head of your work and succeeding in said work is to make sure to be in sync about what we’re doing and what our long term and short term goals are. And so plenty of meetings happen.

And to end off the week, every Wednesday my team have a demo meeting with the higher up staff in order to showcase how we advanced in our work the past week, and to plan what we will be doing in the upcoming week.

So that’s it, those are all the noteworthy things that have happened over the last two weeks in the offices of Carmel 6000, and in my life as part of those offices. And of course throughout all the going on’s I was also working on furthering the website, and making it nicer and more in depth.
