As some of you may know, we have been working on a major update for GaragePro. We got a lot of feedback from our users about the features they wanted and about how the current app experience could be tweaked to make usage easier.

Keeping in mind that our user base consists of both car owners and technicians, we have tried to preserve some of the existing aspects of the app while adding features that could add value to both these sets.

Here are the key features that are being added,

  • System wise scanning- Since the beginning, we have tried to minimize the effort required by users to read fault codes. So, GaragePro till now had a single button to read fault codes from all systems, and pressing this button prompts the app to start reading from ECUs one by one. While this was a great way to reduce effort, a big downside was the amount of time it took. To have the best of both worlds, we have added system-wise scanning, meaning users can select the system they want to scan, while also keeping the full scan handy. So, if you know which system has a fault and you want to do a quick check, go right ahead. Or if you would rather let the app check all systems by itself, you can keep using the full scan.
  • Live Data- Many users wanted to see the same set of parameters (Speed, RPM, MAP, Battery Voltage etc.) as those available in other apps. While we had stayed away from these parameters in the beginning, we have come to realize that including this data set will result in added value for all of our users. So, from this update onward, all our users will be able to access live data parameters in the app. This feature will be free, so even if you haven’t upgraded to a paid subscription, you can keep using the app to see live data from your car.
  • Basic Scan- If you want to just check your engine for generic trouble codes and not think about the ABS, airbags and other systems, there’s going to be an option for a basic scan right on the home page. This is mostly for people who want to make sure their car is ready for an emissions test and there are no emissions related codes in the car. This feature is also free.
  • New advanced features- These are solely for our business subscribers. In addition to what we already have- Injector coding, Throttle reset, ABS Bleeding, Service and Oil reset, we are adding a few more such functions to the list. These include Steering angle reset, Electronic throttle reset & DPF reset for many cars, as well as added coverage for the older features. So, if there was any particular feature that you were looking for, do check out the app.

On top of all this, we are running a $20 discount on our Lifetime subscription. So now instead of $70, you can get the Lifetime subscription for $50 till the end of this month.

This may be the best time to upgrade to a paid subscription, if I say so myself.
