Lufthansa Industry Solutions (LHIND) is an IT service provider headquartered in Norderstedt, Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. We support companies in their digital transformation — whether in developing the right strategy, developing, and networking IT systems or providing mobile platforms for cross-company collaboration. Every day, more than 2,400 employees support over 300 customers on their journey into the digital future.

Where we come from

The growing need for IT services and the associated challenges led to the establishment of the Industry Solutions division within the Lufthansa Group. The aim of LHIND has always been to provide IT services to both internal partners and external companies to gain mutual impetus for the challenges of the market.

Since April 1, 2015, LHIND has been an independent company within the Lufthansa Group. LHIND currently operates under the umbrella of Lufthansa Technik and is represented at 14 locations worldwide, including Hamburg, Cologne, Basel, Bern, Tirana and Miami.

What we can do

We focus not only on the IT required for digitalization processes, but also on our customers’ business and their internal and external challenges. We provide comprehensive advice, develop, roll out and operate solutions. We also offer products and platforms, including the transfer of entire business processes. Our approach here is to deliver added value using intelligent solutions — we call this approach “the value stream”.

Digital transformation encompasses the entire corporate structure and culture and extends beyond the boundaries of the company to collaboration with partners, customers and suppliers.

Our customers come from various sectors, spanning the aviation industry, logistics, and transportation. They represent the public sector, industrial enterprises, the automotive sector, and operate in publishing, tourism, energy, and healthcare — whether they are medium-sized companies or DAX-listed corporations.

From the air to the water

At Lufthansa Industry Solutions, we have been supporting shipping companies and other stakeholders in the shipping industry for more than 15 years. Our years of experience in digitalization make us a valuable partner for companies in various industries. Regardless of their industry and size, our customers share the same challenge: they need to design their IT along the entire value chain in a way that reduces costs while sustainably increasing revenue and efficiency.

For example, there are many parallels between aviation and shipping in terms of operational processes, booking schedules and global supply chains. What both industries also have in common is that the underlying processes are already very multi-layered and must also be highly flexible, which significantly increases complexity. The maritime transport business is currently undergoing a massive upheaval: the days when a liner operator only transported its own containers on its ships are long gone.

To offset fluctuating capacity requirements, an increasing number of mergers or partnerships are being formed. In the future, shipping companies will assume even more responsibilities in the supply chain. These processes can be intelligently managed with the aid of new digital technologies. Hence, we provide comprehensive services to industry players — from traditional shipping companies and port authorities to port operators and logistics companies — offering everything from consulting to the implementation of IT services, all from a single source.
