Carry AppChain: Paving the Way for Innovative Upgrades in the Gaming Advertising Sector

Dear friends of the Carry community, Carry Protocol has always been reshaping traditional internet advertising through blockchain technology. With the support of our community and partners, we have achieved many successful cases, bringing significant changes to our clients. We are gratified to have made some achievements in this era.

As we delve deeper and expand within the Web3 ecosystem, the Carry team has entered a new phase of development. Through collaborations in various fields such as art, cloud computing, and gaming, we have not only expanded our technological and market reach but also deepened our influence in the blockchain ecosystem. Especially in promoting art advertising and gaming communities, Carry has demonstrated its ability to connect different markets and technology platforms, paving new paths for the future development of decentralised advertising and gaming. These achievements have not only strengthened our technological foundation but also contributed to the growth and innovation of the entire Web3 ecosystem.

As a veteran team in the Web3 field, Carry has observed the rapid changes in the industry and has always kept a close watch. We are thrilled to align our community with a new direction we believe to be more challenging and promising — Web3 gaming advertising. Gaming is an industry certain to bring billions of users to Web3, and a native Web3 gaming advertising protocol will greatly accelerate this transformation. We believe that the background and experience of the Carry team perfectly match this market demand, and we hope to build mass adoption of Web3 together with our community and partners.

The Carry team is actively preparing for a network upgrade to welcome its upcoming gaming advertising business. The upgrade plan aims to build a stronger and more efficient platform, capable of meeting the growing demands of the gaming market while providing seamless, interactive advertising experiences for advertisers and gaming communities.

The new Carry platform will closely connect advertisers with the gaming community. Through the incentive mechanisms and governance systems in the protocol, Carry will be able to motivate both players and developers. To meet the needs of business growth, we have been considering how to build an AppChain specifically tailored for gaming advertising. In choosing the Carry AppChain, we need to consider the following criteria:

● How to technically ensure a fair incentive mechanism that benefits everyone involved in the gaming advertising cycle without affecting the playability of the game.

● Whether the upgraded network’s throughput can meet future business needs.

● How to meet the technical requirements for gaming advertising analysis, such as storage solutions.

As we set out Carry’s journey towards reshaping gaming advertising, we will be facing new challenges. Next we will discuss our technological evolution. We recognize the need to upgrade our network to support the thriving field of Web3 gaming advertising, which brings us to a crucial spot where we must carefully evaluate our potential solutions for a network upgrade.

Exploring Carry’s Upgrade Path: Comparative Analysis of Different Blockchain Solutions

Cosmos

Cosmos is an open-source, highly scalable blockchain interchain network. It is a heterogeneous network supporting cross-chain interactions, launched by CometBFT (originally by the Tendermint team), consisting of multiple independent, parallel blockchains forming a decentralised network. Its vision is to break the isolation of information silos and achieve interoperability between different blockchains. Cosmos achieves network speeds of up to 10,000 TPS by allowing multiple parallel blockchains to operate and interact simultaneously. A drawback is that Cosmos cannot have too many validator nodes; currently, the Cosmos Hub has a little over 100 validator nodes.

From a functionality point of view, the modular framework of the Cosmos SDK makes it very convenient to build interoperable and customizable blockchains. At the same time, Ethermint provided by the Cosmos network greatly facilitates the migration of applications on the ETH network. These advantages are highly beneficial for Carry to enhance the interoperability of games on different chains, thereby attracting more users.

Due to its inherent modular design architecture, Cosmos has become the choice for many projects during technical selection. The recently trending Data availability project, Celestia, is also developed based on the underlying architecture of Cosmos, which can help AppChains share the security of layer 0.

Polkadot

Polkadot is a pioneer in multi-chain interconnectivity among various blockchain technologies. Within the Polkadot ecosystem, each individual blockchain is known as a “parachain” (parallel blockchain), while the main chain is called the “relay chain,” and they can communicate conveniently and quickly. Parachains are similar to the concept of independent shards in the Ethereum 2.0 implementation plan.

Developers, businesses, or individuals can customise parachains using Substrate — a framework for creating cryptocurrencies and decentralised systems. Once a user-customised blockchain is connected to the Polkadot network, it can interoperate with other parachains. This design allows developers to more easily build cross-chain applications, products, and services.

Moreover, Polkadot itself offers a mature governance system, allowing the community to participate in the decision-making process. A major consideration for Carry’s mainnet upgrade is whether it can provide a convenient governance structure for the future community, and Polkadot’s governance mechanism meets this requirement.

Polkadot has always been a leader in cross-chain communication. It creatively provides on-chain computational power to projects in need through parachain slot auctions. To achieve a qualitative leap in computational power distribution, Polkadot is preparing for a 2.0 upgrade. This upgrade will enhance network flexibility, achieve adaptive computational capacity, and abandon the original auction method to adapt to the development needs of emerging blockchain applications.

To help the community contribute to Polkadot’s success, the Web3 Foundation has launched a decentralised future funding project. The foundation has provided $20Million and 5 million DOT in prizes, hoping to encourage community developers to contribute new ideas to the development of Polkadot’s technology and ecosystem.

Polkadot has a naturally cross-chain-friendly trait and is compatible with Ethereum, but there haven’t been many practical implementations similar to other networks.

Optimism

Optimism is a Layer 2 solution for Ethereum. It employs the Optimistic Rollup mechanism, which essentially bundles a batch of transactions into one and then processes them on the Ethereum mainnet. As a minimal extension of the existing Ethereum software, Optimism’s EVM-equivalent architecture can scale Ethereum applications. If it works on Ethereum, it can also work on Optimism, at a fraction of Ethereum’s cost. In terms of performance, Optimism offers faster processing speeds and lower costs, while relying on Ethereum’s security. The transaction speed on the Optimism network is approximately 2000 transactions per second.

Additionally, for developers, the feature set of Optimism is very straightforward. Optimism itself retains the minimal functional components required for an L2 system, each of which is secure, scalable, and highly flexible. This simplicity gives Optimism many significant advantages over other more complex blockchain structures in actual on-chain development and maintenance.

The on-chain design of Optimism (OP) is built on four core values: simplicity, pragmatism, sustainability, and ultimately, optimism. As one of the black horse amongst L2 projects, OP has consistently held about 20% of the market share in L2 solutions since its inception. Moreover, OP has attracted attention from many DeFi and gaming projects. The recent Lattice facial game Redstone, for example, was developed in collaboration between Lattice and OP specifically for developers of on-chain games and self-made worlds.

Polygon

Unlike the other blockchain solutions mentioned above, Polygon is a sidechain ecosystem. It facilitates the construction of decentralised applications compatible with Ethereum as sidechains and connects them to its main blockchain. Sidechains have many advantages, the most notable of which is increased transaction throughput and low cost. Compared to Ethereum, Polygon offers fast transaction speeds and extremely low costs.

Polygon supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing existing applications to be migrated relatively easily. In addition to an experience comparable to Ethereum, users also benefit from the high throughput and low costs mentioned above. Currently, popular applications deployed on Polygon include well-known ones such as Aave, 1INCH, Curve, and Sushi.

The Polygon network has always been a hot project in the crypto community. In November 2023, the number of network transactions on Polygon surged. Data from Dune Analytics shows that gas fees on Polygon soared to over 1800 gwei in mid-November.

Polygon’s L2 solution has also received widespread recognition in the industry. This month, projects like OKEX and Manta announced the launch of on-chain feature integrations based on Polygon’s CDK. The integration with OKEX will allow many cryptocurrencies on Polygon to enjoy faster transaction speeds and lower fees.

Polygon has been quite ambitious recently. In addition to actively embracing ecosystem partners, Polygon also plans to upgrade its token MATIC to POL, positioning it as the value layer of the internet.

SUI

Sui is a Layer 1 blockchain developed by Mysten Labs, whose team members mainly come from Facebook’s Diem project. Mysten Labs raised $300 million in a Series B funding round in September 2022 for the development of the blockchain. Adeniyi Abiodun, the co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Sui blockchain and Mysten Labs, has held leadership positions at Oracle, VMware, and Meta, and is committed to advancing the development of the Sui blockchain and supporting the developer community.

The Sui blockchain is known for its performance of up to 120,000 TPS, strong security, and scalability, making it particularly suitable for handling high-frequency and high-concurrency transactions. This high speed is attributed to the Move language developed by Facebook in Rust. A key feature of the Move language is that it treats assets as first-class citizens and uses static calls and a virtual machine sandbox to ensure the security of programs. Sui uses a consensus mechanism called “Move Prover,” where new token holders select a validator for token staking every 24 hours. This mechanism balances security while improving processing speed.

Since its launch at May 2023, the Sui blockchain ecosystem has begun to thrive, with a constant emergence of decentralised applications based on Sui, such as Souffl3 (NFT), Cubic (Gaming), and even some Layer 2 solutions that can be built on the Sui network. These applications also include many NFT Marketplaces (like BlueMove) and DeFi projects (such as MoveEx, Araya, etc.). Currently, the Sui wallet browser extension has been downloaded over 1 million times.
