Interview Questions

Q1: What is the reason behind Carry Protocol’s transition to a new business model?

Before talking about the new business model of Carry, let’s look back on the previous Carry Protocol.

Carry Protocol was founded in 2018 with a mission to revolutionize the advertising industry by leveraging blockchain technology to create a more transparent and fairer ecosystem. One of its notable achievements is the development of a user-friendly blockchain-based platform that allows businesses to leverage blockchain technology for advertising campaigns. Carry Protocol has also built a comprehensive ecosystem that supports multiple industries, including retail, e-commerce, and entertainment.

As Web3 projects grow and become more complex, traditional advertising and influence models struggle to attract and retain users effectively. The increasing number of new projects makes it challenging to gain traction and stand out, especially in a down market where traditional advertising methods are less effective. Major Web2 platforms dominate the advertising landscape, leading to inefficiencies and unfair practices. This stifles innovation and creates a need for more decentralized, user-centric solutions.

Carry initiated the idea of a new direction in April 2023. Afterwards, we published a series of medium articles to illustrate our ideas with our communities. Gratefully, we received much support from our CRE holders and with their support, we successfully extended our business into game fields, with a broader user base and rich application scenarios in the Web3 native community.

As we witnessed impressive revenue growth in the global digital game market throughout 2023, we at Carry identified a unique opportunity at the crossroads of the digital game industry. Recognizing the burgeoning rise of Web3 games, we embarked on a path to embrace this evolution. The ongoing Web3 technology revolution is reshaping the game landscape, inspiring developers to delve into the realm of full-chain development for immersive online game experiences.

Our transition towards Web3 games is fueled by a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges inherent in this emerging sector. Technological advancements and innovative business models are poised to redefine the dynamics between developers, players, and advertisers. Our proposal encompasses the creation of a new infrastructure tailored to seamlessly integrate blockchain technologies into all games, addressing the intricacies of online game economics.

Q2: What’s your roadmap going forward? What are your goals and vision?

Our vision is to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3 games, creating an engaging, rewarding, and sustainable ecosystem for developers, advertisers, and players.

The roadmap in the pipeline is like: In 2024, we will focus on developing the GameBuild core SDK for advertisement functionalities and the GameBuild advertisement spot marketplace. The new GameBuild core SDK will be developed in conjunction with SLG’s existing SDK. And we will involve more partnerships in the gaming sector into the GameBuild ecosystem in the following couple of months.

In the next year, we plan to develop more comprehensive game infrastructure toolkits.More details about the roadmap will be released on the official website soon. Stay tuned.

About the vision of GameBuild:

By leveraging Carry’s deep experience in blockchain and advertising alongside SLG.Games’ cutting-edge game development tools, GameBuild envisions revolutionizing the gaming industry by integrating advanced blockchain technology, dynamic in-game advertising, and robust development tools. The goal is to create a more immersive and economically sustainable gaming ecosystem that seamlessly blends Web2 and Web3 platforms.

About our goals in the planning:

1. Create a comprehensive gaming infrastructure. Integration of Web2 and Web3: Bridge traditional gaming models with blockchain capabilities to offer a unified gaming experience.

2. Dynamic in-game advertising. Develop an Ad-Spot-based advertising mechanism that allows for non-intrusive, dynamic ad spots within games, enhancing monetization and user engagement.

3. Enhance developer and player experience. That includes robust development tools which provide developers with the GameBuild SDK, which includes modules for asset management, identity management, security protection, ad management, and data analysis; and the player rewards mechanism which enable players to earn rewards through interactions, exploration, and feedback, fostering a more engaging and rewarding gaming experience.

4. Foster a sustainable and rewarding ecosystem. It creates new revenue streams for developers through in-game advertising and asset tokenization. And it is to build a collaborative behavioral data network where users contribute data and are rewarded, ensuring a fair distribution of advertising value and user participation in the ecosystem.

Q3: What are the new incentive models ‘Slots’?

Actually, we have changed the word “Slots” to the phrase “Ad Spots” now.

Ad Spot: At the core of the GameBuild protocol is the concept of an ‘ad spot’, a revolutionary feature designed to integrate advertising seamlessly into the realm of on-chain gaming, to create an economically sustainable gaming ecosystem. An ad spot represents a specific segment of digital space within a game environment, where advertisements are organically embedded as part of the virtual landscapes.

An ad spot represents a specific part of the digital space within a gaming environment, where advertisements are visible as part of the virtual landscape within the game. You will be able to advertise more efficiently within the game. You will be able to provide videos, photos, and multimedia content as advertising spots.

To summarize, by introducing ad spots as in-game advertising spaces, Carry Protocol eliminates the need for third-party intermediaries, allowing developers to directly sell ad space within their games. This reduces associated costs and increases revenue for developers.

And then, by tokenizing in-game assets with blockchain technology, transactions become seamless and highly liquid. This process reduces the need for intermediaries and ensures that both developers and players can monetize their assets more effectively.

Furthermore, Carry facilitates direct transactions through its marketplace, where developers can auction ad spots and in-game assets. This direct approach balances rewards by ensuring fair compensation for both developers and advertisers based on real-time demand and performance metrics.

Q4:I support the foundation’s vision and direction, and I don’t think there are any major problems with the merger process.

In fact, the most curious thing from the perspective of CRE token holders and SLG token holders is the price maintenance of the merged $GAME token.

I think you can understand that there are still doubts about the effectiveness or burning ability of $GAME tokens for some time. I would like to hear the foundation’s thoughts or specific plans on this.

There’s no doubt that the token holders are always price sensitive. The tokens are currently listed on quite a few exchanges with global liquidity.

After the merger, in order to protect CRE holders’ interests, aside from the airdrop for CRE holders, the unvested parts of $Game will be locked up for another six months. With the adjustment of 6 months lock-up period, the next vesting time will occur after October 2024.

Through the integration with SLG.GAMES and more cooperation with global well-known projects, we will reach the next milestone soon and improve the global liquidity of tokens. The $GAME token ecosystem underpins several crucial functions such as governance, collateral, membership, and the creation of auction marketplaces. This token not only facilitates the operation and governance within the platform but also deeply integrates with the GameBuild SDK, enhancing access to its services and supporting the ecosystem’s overall functionality and growth.

Q5: What are the advantages of CRE integrating with SLG?

Carry Protocol brings to the table its invaluable experience in leveraging blockchain and advertising technology, which has been successfully applied into the physical store domain. By adapting this expertise to the gaming industry, carry aims to introduce a spot-based advertising mechanism that provides Web3 games with a brand-new way of advertising. This approach will provide advertisers with a more targeted and effective way to reach their desired audience, while simultaneously empowering game developers and players to monetize their creations and gaming experiences more efficiently.

SLG.GAMES, which has established itself as a one-stop infrastructure platform, facilitating the integration of blockchain technology into games with its industrial-grade SDK and comprehensive management platforms. Many games have been launched as Web3 games through SLG SDK, equipping these games with Web3 asset modules and on-chain data analysis modules.

Post-merger, game developers can use all available modules, bridging Web2 and Web3 games and introducing a new advertising paradigm. Customized auction marketplaces and NFT sales can integrate into the broader Gamebuild Marketplace, sharing liquidity and exposure while maintaining their unique focus. This unified ecosystem enhances the effectiveness and reach of gaming advertisements and in-game item sales. This architectural blueprint creates a unified and diverse marketplace ecosystem. It connects specialized markets, such as gaming advertisements and in-game item sales, under a shared liquidity framework.

In addition, GameBuild will share enhanced liquidity from Carry Protocol and SLG.GAMES, covering different markets, to support a wider range of activities and transactions, enhancing overall market efficiency. The combined platform amplifies its international presence, making it more attractive to a broader global user base

Q6: It seems there is an airdrop to CRE holders and the amount is 3% of the total amount of new $GAME token. What is the reason behind this airdrop?

This is a good quesion.

The airdrop to CRE holders, which accounts for 3% of the total $GAME tokens, is aimed to reward the loyalty and support of our dedicated community members and will be distributed in four rounds. We aim to acknowledge their unwavering commitment to our vision, especially during the transition to the new $GAME token. This airdrop serves as a token of appreciation for their trust in the project and encourages them to remain actively involved in the ecosystem.

Also, the airdrop fosters a sense of inclusivity and fairness within the community, ensuring that a portion of the new tokens is distributed among existing supporters. By involving our existing community in the transition to the new $GAME token, we aim to build a stronger, more resilient community that actively participates in governance, provides valuable feedback, and contributes to the overall success of the project.

Q7: I noticed that some exchanges have started to swap CRE to GAME, can you tell us the detailed swap rules? How about on-chain wallet holders?

There are two types of situations.

For those who hold CRE tokens on major exchanges, no action is required. We will work with major exchanges to ensure a smooth conversion and the holdings will automatically be converted to $GAME tokens directly by the exchanges.

Once an exchange suspends its CRE token deposits and withdrawals, the Carry team will communicate with relevant exchange staff to figure out the total amount of CRE held by this exchange. After the number is confirmed, the Carry team will then transfer the corresponding amount of GAME to this exchange. The exchange will then conduct the swap from CRE to GAME at a 1:1 ratio following the time according to their announcements respectively.

For individual on-chain wallet holders, a token swap entry will be provided through Carry’s official website. Stay tuned to our official channels where holders can access via links on our website.

Q8: We’re pretty familiar with CRE, could you tell us more about SLG.GAMES, the other one project in this merger?

SLG develops a one-stop infrastructure platform for the gaming ecosystem, containing industrial-grade SDK and comprehensive management platforms. It is secure, standardized and easy-to-use, which lowers the entry threshold for developers in integrating blockchain technology into their games.

By cooperating with SLG SDK, numerous Web3 games are successfully launched, such as anotherworld, Puffverse, Matacraft, Citycoon, Lilliput, Dango3, and Pixelisland.

Q9: After the merger, what kind of partnership would GameBuild be looking for?

GameBuild is looking for partnerships that align with our goal of revolutionizing the gaming industry by integrating blockchain technology and enhancing in-game advertising.

We will conduct technical collaborations with various games, such as the partnership with Catizen announced today. https://x.com/gamebuild_/status/1791017944065171787?s=46

In addition, we will collaborate with Layer1 projects to provide SDK technology to games that want to develop games on a specific mainnet.

Q10: How is the team structured? Are there any major changes from the existing team?

Answer to the fifth question. This merger was not only about technology, but also about the team. Both Carry and SLG’s team have been operating for several years.

The new core members are Grant(as Co-CEO) and Andy Pan (as CTO) from Carry, Kolomoitsev Artur(as Co-CEO) from SLG.Games.

I have introduced myself at the beginning. And I think you’re also familiar with Grant Sohn who has founded Carry Protocol. As a Seattle native, Grant Sohn graduated from Stanford and has invaluable experience in leveraging blockchain and advertising technology, which has been successfully applied into the physical store domain.

Let me also give us a brief introduction of Kolomoitsev Artur who founded SLG.GAMES. He has 5 years of management experience in the Internet and blockchain, 2 years of experience in the gaming industry. He has started the business in the field of Web3 and NFT Game since 2021, and carried out blockchain game incubation, marketing, and publishing.

The merger will lead to the combination of three talented leaders mentioned above, and the two teams will collaborate and work closely towards the same goal.

We will continue to strive to make our team more global and technologically robust.
