Happy New Year from the CARTESI Team!

For the first time ever, a layer-2 system will be able to run a real operating system on top of blockchain.

This New Year, Cartesi has emerged from stealth mode to share this exciting news.

Ethereum was a pioneer by creating the foundations of a “world computer”. It allowed developers to conceive a whole new class of decentralized crypto-economic applications.

Cartesi is a pioneer in providing DApps enormous off-chain processing power and the resourceful infrastructure brought about by Linux. With that, DApps will become easy to build and more powerful, eliminating a fundamental roadblock to the adoption of public blockchains.

With this brief recap, let’s get straight into our New Year updates:

First, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve received funding support from SNZ Holding. We’re honored to join their portfolio of innovative and impactful companies. In addition to the funding, SNZ brings expertise in both community-building and technical development.

Over the last month, we launched 5 new international communities and greatly furthered our marketing efforts in China. We’ve established our Community Adoption Program which will incentivize community contributions. We were also featured on podcasts, AMAs and recently received insightful and meaningful coverage on five popular publications.

  • We on-boarded a new marketing team to help build our community and highlight Cartesi’s transformative potential.
  • We’ve been busy developing new, strategic outreach initiatives including our Community Adoption Program which is live until February 18th. Contributors can earn CTSI rewards while helping build the Cartesi ecosystem.

Cartesi In The News

  • CryptoSlate explored why Linux could be the key to making blockchain truly usable.
  • DC Forecasts discussed Cartesi’s strategies for solving blockchain’s scalability problems.
  • Crypto Daily named Cartesi one of four companies that could attract a new wave of developers to blockchain.
  • NewsBTC published a deep dive into the technicals of Cartesi in this comprehensive article.
  • NextBigFuture referenced Cartesi as a potential layer-2 solution capable of solving blockchain scalability challenges and attracting new developers.
  • Cartesi CEO, Erick de Moura, joined the Crypto Current podcast to discuss the significance of off-chain computing for blockchain.

Cartesi in Chinese

A number of insightful articles were published in Chinese about Cartesi:

Development Updates

We have made fundamental improvements to our testing and deployment environments. These improvements involved numerous code revisions and bug fixes, increasing the efficiency with which various Cartesi components interact and creating paving the way to our first SDK.

Our use of Docker Compose to combine Cartesi’s components makes the system easy to use, all with one-line commands. With this, services are orchestrated and executed in the proper order, as executions must always wait for their dependencies to become available.

All these improvements underpin the Tournament Infrastructure that will support the first game on Cartesi. We have already completed a fully successful test of the tournament.

Welcome to the Team

Fabiana Cecin, Ph.D. in Software Engineering

Fabiana is an “old school” developer from the C++/Java native desktop apps age and has been coding since she was nine. Fabiana holds a Ph.D. in Distributed Systems (P2P) and completed a thesis on secure and scalable massively multiplayer online games, with a focus on a deterministic and replicated simulation engine. We’re very excited to welcome her aboard!
