Hello, Cartesi Community Grants Program.

For developers looking for support to get their ideas off the ground, and for Cartesi enthusiasts interested in helping shape our developing ecosystem, we’re excited to announce the Cartesi CGP: Community Grants Program!

The CGP is a community-driven program to fund a broad network of contributors to help build and expand the Cartesi ecosystem. Reflecting a broader movement towards Cartesi’s decentralization, the Community Grants Program is a step forward in providing increased community involvement in the grants selection process.

Calling all developers!

So you have an incredible idea, but need some extra help to get it off the ground? Alongside financial support, the Cartesi community is all about providing invaluable technical and strategic advice to ensure the success of projects growing within our ecosystem.

With the Community Grants Program, you can easily refine your proposal for funding your project with community feedback, strengthening its feasibility and potency.

Check out the review process, rules and guidelines here and get your application submitted!

Eager to contribute but need a bit of inspiration? In addition to submitting your own ideas, the Cartesi Foundation will periodically publish RFPs for projects that the Foundation believes are of particular relevance and impact to the ecosystem.

Power to the community.

Once a proposal is reviewed by the Grants Council for technological feasibility, ecosystem impact, and consistency with Grant Program guidelines, a proposal will be opened on Snapshot.

Want to take part in the voting process? You must deposit and then stake your CTSI in a pool 12 hours before you go to vote or else it cannot be seen by Snapshot and you will not be able to vote. Good news, it’s super easy to stake CTSI in a pool! Check out step by step instructions and FAQs:

Voting power is proportional 1:1 to the amount of CTSI tokens that a voting wallet has staked in a pool in Cartesi’s Staking Portal. Tokens held in a wallet, private node, or elsewhere, are not counted towards voting.

But what about my CTSI you’re asking? Voting does not cost CTSI — CTSI never leaves the staking pool and never changes hands when voting. You can un-stake once you’re done voting too (but why do that when you’re earning staking rewards?!)

For the community, there will be two voting options: “Vote to fund this proposal” and “Vote to not fund this proposal”. The voting period will last for 7 days — you’ll be able to change your votes at any time during that window (but the proposal cannot be edited during this time).

Building our ecosystem, together.

The launch of the Cartesi Community Grants Program ushers in a new governance function for Cartesi’s token, CTSI. The Cartesi Foundation’s decentralized ecosystem will use CTSI as a way for community members to signal approval or disapproval of grants that are proposed.

Alongside providing CTSI stakers increased involvement on what is being funded and built on Cartesi tech, it also allows the community to more easily connect with builders in the Cartesi ecosystem. This opens the doors for collaboration between Cartesi enthusiasts and any of the projects being built!

So, for builders itching to get their project up and running, prepare and submit your proposal today!

And for CTSI holders interested in voting, you can get ready by staking your CTSI:

About Cartesi

Cartesi Rollups is an application-specific execution layer that elevates simple smart contracts to decentralized Linux runtimes. It allows developers to launch highly scalable rollup chains, and code decentralized logic with their favorite languages and software components.

  • Every DApp has its own high-performing rollup chain;
  • No cannibalization of resources from other DApps in Cartesi’s ecosystem;
  • No network gentrification;
  • Enable an entirely new class of DApps that currently cannot run on EVM chains;
  • Preserve the strong security guarantees of the underlying blockchain
