Introduction:
Illuvium is the first AAA game developed using blockchain technology. In 2020, Illuvium released its prototype and the Illuvium coin, $ILV, though Ethereum is the cryptocurrency for in-game items. The developers have built this game from the ground up, emphasizing DeFi, or Decentralized Finance. Illuvium has many partners in the DeFi space and looks to continue this partnership through NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, which serve as the main driver for gameplay. To protect the integrity and enjoyment of Illuvium DAO or decentralized autonomous organization is put in place. A DAO provides users the right to vote on changes or additions to the game. With DeFi, tangible NFTS, and mutable gameplay, Illuvium is undertaking one of the most ambitious blockchain technologies: a completely decentralized AAA video game title.
How to play Illuvium:
Illuvium will soon be releasing its private beta marking the first time the public will have access to play the game. You must register an account beforehand to have the possibility of playing the private beta. Additionally, a crypto wallet has to be connected to the Illuvium website; the recommendation is a MetaMask wallet, but coinbase and email are additional options when creating an account. Illuvium also recommends higher-performance hardware for gameplay. If the hardware is satisfied, users can customize their character and pick a sidekick (Polymorphic Subordinate Drone).
Once the user has created their character, they pick one of the five classes: Fighter, Guardian, Rogue, Psion, and Empath. Using these classes, players gain special abilities to collect NFTs of Illuvials, the beasts, in the open world. An Illuvial must be defeated and, subsequently, subdued with shards. These shards are mined or purchased with ETH to collect the Illuvial as an NFT. However, there is one caveat: when an Illuvial is defeated, the next gets stronger. To make battles against Illuvials doable there are weapons and armor. A player’s sidekick can also mine currency to buy shards. Once a player captures an Illuvial, they can play in the arena, a card game, against other players. Users can also put their Illuvials onto IlluviDEX, the marketplace for Illuvium, where they can buy, sell, or trade.
DeFi and Immutable X:
Illuvium is bridging the gap between gaming and cryptocurrency using DeFi and NFTs. Using DeFi(Decentralized finance), Illuvium aims to implement different DeFi frameworks to work in conjunction with the IlluviDEX. Implementation would provide a service of cutting-edge transaction technology to help provide a seamless marketplace experience. Illuvium also uses Immutable X, a solution to the ever-evolving problem of Ethereum scaling. If a cryptocurrency is not scaled, gas prices rise, or the cost to send the currency increases. Cost rises are especially true for NFTs, which Illuvium almost exclusively uses. Immutable X allows Illuvium to make transactions without gas prices, using a Zero-Knowledge Rollup. A Zero-Knowledge Rollup at the base level holds the data for multiple transactions into one Ethereum transaction. DeFi and Immutable X give Illuvium breaking edge technology to add value and replay value to their game, making it innovative and promising.

Being released in 2020, Illuvium has shown immense amounts of growth, and it is because of the thorough development of their DeFi, NFTs, and gameplay.
