Cartisan recently carried out a 2008 Mercedes Benz E Class W211 Service & Brembo Brakes Overhaul. The car had run a mere 40,000 km despite its age. It was due for a complete vehicle service and rear brake pad and brake rotor replacement. The following items required replacement

  • Engine Oil — 8 liters
  • Oil Filter
  • Air Filter — the E280’s massive V6 has inlet manifolds on either side of its V arrangement, hence it requires 2 air filters.
  • Cabin Filter
  • Fuel Filter
  • Rear Brake Rotors
  • Rear Brake Pads

A quote was given to the customer, he approved, and the Cartisan Service Team arrived at his doorstep to carry out the service.

The Cartisan Service Team arrived at the customer’s location ready to carry out the service.

The bonnet is popped up and the car is raised up with the help of a hydraulic jack & propped on stands for support. The Cartisan technician proceeds to remove the engine cover bearing the V6 and the three-pointed star monogram.

First, the air filters are removed and replaced with brand new Mann+Hummel filters. A V6 is bolted to this particular W211. There are 2 intakes on either side of the V arrangement of cylinders which means, 2 air filters are required to filter the air.

Next, the engine oil is drained out from underneath the car by removing the under-chassis shields and unscrewing the engine oil drain nut.

The oil filter is then removed and replaced with a brand new oil filter and the engine block is filled up with approximately 8 liters of 5W-40 fully synthetic engine oil by Mitasu premium synthetic engine oil (Mercedes Benz certified).

The fuel filter, which is located in between the V arrangement is removed and replaced with a brand new fuel filter from Mahle.

The cabin filter, which is located in the engine bay is removed and replaced with a brand new filter from Mann Filters.

The wheels are then unmounted from the wheel hubs. The front brake pads are removed from the brake calipers, cleaned and placed back.

For the rear, the brake pads are removed from the brake calipers. The calipers and brake rotors are removed thereafter. Brand new Brembo brake rotors are mounted onto the wheel hub. The caliper is then mounted back onto the new Brembo brake rotor and a new set of Brembo brake pads are fitted to them.

The wheels are then mounted onto the car. Finally the W211 is taken for a test drive to confirm that the work was carried out successfully.
