Comics offer a way to catch someone’s eye, quickly convey information, and have long been used in advertising and marketing campaigns.

It’s no surprise a cartoon school would market itself with a comics, so when The Center for Cartoon Studies wanted to show how the challenges of living in a rural setting could actually be a benefit, I asked former White River Junction, VT resident and cartoonist Alec Longstreth to share his experiences.

In another medium what comes across as a standard testimonial becomes a tale told with conviction. Alec didn’t just snap some photos or narrate a short video—he sat down and handcrafted every word and image. The human touch is one reason comics can can be so persuasive.
