Holy Ship! Use a Strap!

With CARTT currently only in the Fort Wayne area, we want to prepare you for any and every moving situation. There are times where we need to do the job with our own two hands. As helpful as CARTT is for you, we understand this, which is why we wanted to strap you down with some quick tips to help prepare you for your next move or pick-up.

Essentials for a Safe Move

You would be surprised with how many people who don’t know how to move properly because they don’t have the appropriate tools. Instead of hanging out of your car window while you hold down a mattress with your hands, look into these tools to take the stress out of your move.

Moving blankets and Pads

Too many times have I heard the same story of a friend or relative who had a fragile item and instead of taking the time to wrap it with a soft blanket or pad they just slid it into their truck or moving van. All it takes is one bump in the road or sharp turn to damage or even shatter a fragile glass piece. Prevent an unneeded mess by coming loaded with blankets and moving pads. These can even be old sheets you have at the house. Make sure you plan out how many delicate pieces you have so you know how many blankets you will need.

Dolly, Dolly, Dolly

For those difficult and awkward pieces, or just to take the strain off your back, use a dolly to roll your items to the truck. This is a fast way to get all of your boxes out of your home, move that heavy dresser, or get that bulky toolbox out of the garage. This also allows moving items up the stairs more convenient.

Ropes and Ratchets

Fastening down your items is by far top priority. What’s the point in getting it all out of your house and into your truck if it’s just going to fly out on the highway? And so man said let there be straps! Not only are they affordable, but necessary for any big move. Each of our drivers at CARTT are equipped with 3–5 rachet straps to give our customers and retail partners peace of mind knowing all of their personals are in good hands. They also usually carry several feet of rope for extra measures.

Be sure when you are tying down your furniture and boxes, that you use areas that you feel need it the most. Wrap the rope around areas that catch then tied it down as tight as you can without damaging the piece. Once your done always do a test tug to make sure there isn’t any slack and the furniture stays sturdy in place.
