Introducing Carwow’s Experience Design Principles

At Carwow, we’re always asking ourselves “how can we make it better?”. In this post, I’ll share our new Design principles that will help guide our work and behaviours within our team, taking us to the next level.

Here’s why:

For too long, our approach has been rooted in careful adjustments and data-driven refinements. While this has provided steady progress, it has also limited our potential to innovate and lead with bold, visionary design. In some respects, it’s akin to an enterprise-level organisation where optimisation is at the core of Product and Design. This is in conflict with our desire to be Tech-focussed, scale-up leaders in our space.

How we’re addressing it:

We’re shifting our focus towards a new set of design (and product) principles that prioritise boldness over incrementalism, embracing the opportunity to push the envelope through design to make a significant impact.

Breaking them down

These principles ensure that every aspect of our user experience is crafted with intentionality and excellence. Here’s a closer look at each principle:

1. Bold

We strive to surpass the ordinary with exceptional design. This means pushing boundaries, setting new standards, and inspiring greatness. We want to make a powerful statement and provide moments of true magic.

2. Simple

Simplicity is at the core of our design ethos. We create clarity through design by distilling solutions down to their essence. By focusing on simplicity, we ensure that our users can navigate our platform with ease and confidence.

3. Human

Understanding our users deeply is paramount. We craft experiences that fulfil their needs and resonate on a personal level. This human-centric approach ensures that our designs are not just useful, but also meaningful and empathetic.

4. Refined

We are committed to craftsmanship and attention to detail. Refinement in our design process means obsessing over every detail to produce work we are proud of. This dedication to refinement ensures that our final products are polished and exceed user expectations.
