What happens after you’ve found the perfect case, and, even better, the perfect quote?

The tired lawyer: Copy and pastes the text to cite, and then opens up his copy of the Bluebook to properly format and cite the case.

OR

The modern lawyer: Clicks a button.

Casetext’s built-in “copy with cite” — one of our most popular features — allows you to simply highlight the text with your cursor and select “copy with citation” when the button pops up:

The text of the case, along with a perfectly formatted citation, will automatically be copied onto your computer’s clipboard. Just click “paste” in whatever document you’re working in.

If you’d rather use a parenthetical citation, you can select that option instead.

As a team of former attorneys, we want to help you make the best case for your client and spend time on high-value, billable work. That’s why we want to help you research as efficiently as possible.

That’s also why, at Casetext, we believe unlimited search is the future of legal research (as discussed in a previous post). In practice, this means that when you research on Casetext, you can run as many searches as you want, read as many cases as you want, and copy as many citations as you want — all as efficiently as possible using our artificial intelligence and automation technology.

You can start searching on Casetext here.
