When You See A (Legal Tech) Rocket Ship, You Get On

During ILTACON 2018, LexBlog’s Kevin O’Keefe interviewed Casetext VP of Business Development Anand Upadhye about what inspired him to leave a six-year career as a litigator to join a legal tech startup.

Seeing legal research as “gravely broken” in the legal profession, Anand abandoned his litigation career to be a part of a (then) brand-new legal technology startup in which he saw a lot of potential. That startup was Casetext. Four years later, Anand is deeply integrated into the legal technology world and loving it. He offers advice to other attorneys who may also be frustrated with practicing law, and echoes the Silicon Valley mantra “If not me, then who?”
