India’s largest publicly traded gaming company, Delta Corp. gets licence for Denzong Regency Hotel and will be operating Sikkim’s third land based casino.
Due to the fact that Delta Corp. gets licence for Denzong Regency Hotel in Gangtok, Sikkim, the company will further strengthen its presence on the regional market.
News about Denzong Regency acquiring the licence appeared back in April but have been confirmed by Delta this week.
Delta Managing Director Ashish Kapadia:
“Delta Corp Limited would like to inform that it has signed a leave and license agreement for premises in in the Denzong Regency Hotel, Gantok, Sikkim, to operate a casino. Delta has obtained a provisional licence from the Government of Sikkim under the Sikkim Casino Act 2002. We are in the process of refurbishing and getting the premises casino ready which should be completed in the next three months. Delta, in pursuing its strategy of expanding its gaming imprint will now have a presence in Sikkim, operating a live gaming casino offering approximately 150 gaming positions, thereby catering to the eastern market. Delta will this, in addition to three offshore and one onshore casino in Goa, will strengthen its presence by adding this Casino in Sikkim, making it a dominant and formidable player in the Indian gaming and entertainment space.”
There are already two casinos operating in Sikkim: Casino Mahjong operating in the Mayfair resort and Casino Sikkim open in Hotel Royal Plaza. According to specialists, a casino at Hotel Denzong Regency is supposed to benefit from a more convenient and strategic location as it is near to Gangtok city.
Hotel Denzong Regency is the only 5-star Luxury Mountain Retreat in the capital of Sikkim. It is 6,000 feet tall with Mt. Kanchenjunga peak visible in the background.
Sikkim is a state in northwest of the country, holding borders with by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. It is one of three states, together with Goa and Daman, that is allowed to offer casinos.
