In March of this year, the Casper Network launched on Mainnet. It was a formative moment in the history of the Network, and marked another important milestone in Casper’s evolution: the birth of the Casper Association.

Based in Switzerland, the Casper Association is the nonprofit entity leading the community’s collective efforts around the Casper Network’s ongoing adoption, evolution, and decentralization. The Casper Association is responsible for maintaining and supporting the open source resources around the core of the Casper Network, and involving the community in its continued growth.

One of the Casper Association’s primary responsibilities is accepting validators of the Casper Network as members. The validators will be involved in the governance of the Association, as well as ensuring the Casper Network’s ongoing performance and reliability. The Association will define a set of requirements for validators to qualify for membership. If you have questions about becoming a validator, you can learn more about validators in our recent FAQ post.

The Casper Association has a three-person board: Patrick Storchenegger (Chairman), Daniel Biesuz (Member), and Ralf Kubli (Member). It also has a growing community team, including Program Manager Piotr Dziubecki; a Community Director who many in our ecosystem will recognize as the individual running global Telegram communities and posting across Casper social media channels, Joe Davies; and Louise Zhang, who manages Casper’s growing China community. The Casper Association will increase our technical and program management staff over time, so stay tuned for open position postings and new staff announcements.

The Casper Association’s overarching goal is to enable the developers, companies, and the community at large to build and deploy applications in an easy to use and scalable environment. For this reason, the Association will be involved in hackathons, events, research, and other opportunities for the community to interact with the Casper Network. You can expect announcements on events like these in the months ahead!

In general, the Casper Association will be providing a steady flow of information around the Casper Network, so if you are interested in learning more, make sure to connect with us on Discord, Telegram, and Twitter.
