You’re an actor, so you probably have a ton of photos of yourself. But not every photo is a good photo for your acting profile!

We’ve spoken to a lot of casting directors to find 5 powerful tips to help your profile stand out and get you more audition calls.

1. Don’t Cover/Crop Out Any Part of Your Face

This is the most common mistake. Don’t wear sunglasses, or a cap, or a bane mask. Always let the casting director see your full beautiphool face, and they’ll call you for all the right auditions.

Show your full face!

2. Don’t Take Weird Angles

Sure, you must have a “best angle”. But the best angle for a casting director is simply straight ahead. Even if you put some profile shots, make sure you have one or two dead straight and simple ones too.

3. Show Some Variety — But In Your Expressions

Eventually casting directors are looking for versatility — actors who can pull off different characters with ease. So if you have the skills, show them in your photos! Smile with teeth, then smile without, then don’t smile, then look sombre, and so on.

4. Cut Out the Background

The point of the photo is YOU. Everything else is a distraction. Try clicking your photos on a plain background, and definitely do not have your best friend and family in the same photo.

Casting directors just want to see you. Not your family, and definitely not your bathroom.

5. Get Professional Help If You Can

Apart from these tips, getting a professional photographer/videographer will also help you stand out from the crowd. It is a small but valuable investment, because a photographer will take care of directing you, getting your best out, and most importantly, lighting the scene in a way that’s best for your facial features.
