The Castle team released a small update today, which you can grab for Windows and macOS from playcastle.io. This update contains a number of changes — here are a few we’re excited about.

Add more details to your profile

A profile on Castle

You can now personalize your profile with an avatar, some links, and a bit about yourself. Let people know what you’re playing lately, what you’re working on, or just say hi.

More detailed development logs

While you’re creating a game in Castle, you’ll now see expandable stack traces for errors in your lua code, when available. Castle will also auto-show logs if you load your project from a local file or url on your computer. You can toggle the logs view with Ctrl/Cmd + J.

We also started persisting logs from older loads, so you can refresh without losing them, and we added a way to manually clear the logs. If you’re not familiar with developing Castle games and viewing logs, be sure and read our short tutorial.

Fixed some other issues

  • Resolved an issue where Castle could become unresponsive after minimizing on Windows.
  • Resolved an issue where print(nil) could break the logs view.
