If you’ve found yourself here, this is the second article of a 3 part-series on what’s happening in the Catalysr universe, our plans for 2020 and how you can get involved.

ICYMI: You can read the first article here.

This article was originally meant to be a reflection on key learnings from various leadership programs that i am involved in, but since that work is continuing over the next few months, I will focus on our First Gens 2.0 program in Melbourne.

First Gens 2.0 — Catalysr making a splash in Victoria!

As I mentioned last year, we’ve been operating in Sydney for the last 3.5 years, and partnered with ygap to expand into Victoria.

As a first-time founder myself, I will be honest with you, scaling is nerve-wracking. You’ve got to do (almost) everything from scratch, but we’re very grateful to have had found a wonderful partner-in-crime in ygap, and our key supporters: LaunchVic, Vasudhara Foundation, Seventh Street VC as well as our venue partner FYA, alongside many other generous partners for making it a lot easier.

I am very excited to share that our call for migrapreneurs was heard loud and wide in Victoria and we have launched our inaugural pre-accelerator program as a part of the First Gens 2.0 program in collaboration with 92 migrapreneurs (70 teams) in Melbourne.

Migrapreneurs at the First Gens 2.0 program

Our First Gens 2.0 cohort hails from 36 different countries, with more than half of the cohort made up of female migrapreneurs.

First Gens 2.0 — Country of Origin

Not only is this the biggest cohort we have ever had, I am genuinely in awe of all the incredible ideas and people, who are joining us for this program and some really hard problems they’re trying to solve.

One of the great examples is Senthill Sundaram, founder of Wynbus (a social enterprise providing on-demand mobility services for people with disabilities, elderly and other disadvantaged members of the community). After the first master-class Senthill said:

“I have a strong feeling that this program will enable an exciting cohort of inspiring individuals to connect and inspire each other.”

You can meet our migrapreneurs and read about their ideas on here.

Ask 1: Join us as a mentor!
