Ever wondered how Gmail, google drive, google photos, Netflix, amazon prime video or Microsoft OneDrive store such a huge data for such a gigantic user all across the globe??

Suppose you’ve started a company, in the beginning you have a few bunches of people, so its feasible to store the data of few people in the pc, but once the headcount increases, it would be so tedious to store the data of everyone.

Either we can use external hardware (such as SSDs or HDDs) or we can increase the number of systems used. But buying hardware and new computer systems would have some drawbacks:

a. There will be hike in the expenditure

b. To manage that hardware, you will need a trained tech team

c. You need to have back and strategies if any problem occurs with the hardware.

d. The maintenance charges of the hardware would be more

Wouldn’t it be great if you get a service where you can store your data on a remote system instead of on your local system? Here you don’t have to worry about the maintenance, security and expenses. All you have to pay is a nominal fee and you can use the service (storage) however you want to. Also, the best the thing are pay as you use.

YES! WE CAN. Here comes in picture cloud. So basically, cloud is providing on demand services over the internet. This service is provided by cloud providers such as AWS, google cloud or Microsoft azure. Nowadays, many MNCs are investing in cloud computing, such as IBM Cloud, iCloud, Alibaba Cloud, etc.

Cloud Service Providers

Instead of saving photos on the local device (mobile phone), we store it on google photos or google drive and can delete from our mobile phone. Whenever you need those photos, we can download. Since the photos are not stored on the local device, if we lose the mobile phone, we can still have the access to all the photos and documents.

Application of cloud computing are many, few examples are

a. Art Application: Adobe Creative cloud, Moo, etc.

b. Social Application: Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn.

c. Business Application: PayPal, slack, chatter.

d. Other Application: online games, video conferencing, outright, Chromebook for education.
