WHAT IS 5G?
5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is
designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices.

KEY POINTS OF 5G:

-> It started in april 2019.
-> It is expected to have more than 1.7 billion users by 2025.
-> It is expected to support 1 million devices per sqkm.
-> new 5G speed is 20 Gbps(gigabits/s) with a frequency of 30Ghz.

NEW MODULES OR TECHNOLOGIES OF 5G:
1. MILLIMETER WAVES
The waves having frequency starting at 24GHZ and beyond. As due to higher frequency, mmwaves has short range of 300–500 feet only and cannot penetrate buildings. It is used for high speed broad brand access and called FR2 in 5G technology. FR2 antennas are smaller in size comparitively to larger antennas.

2. SMALL CELL
The base stations that provide to small part of macro stations usually deployed in urban areas with high data capacity requirements and coverage.
small cells are used mainly due to penetration issues in indoors where metallic structures/walls obstruct network signals when controlled by macro stations.

3.MIMO(multiple input multiple output)
This system is combination of antenna explosion(adding more on base stations) and complex algorithms used in wireless communications to enhance connectivity and offer better speeds. additional antennas helps focus energy which brings improvements in throughput and efficiency. both networks and mobile devices implement more complex designs and need to have tight co-ordination to make MIMO operations work.

4.BEAMFORMING
The signal technique for base stations that identifies most efficient data delivery route to a user.it has potential to make 5G better by using multiple
antennas and have a more direct connection which is faster.

5.FULL DUPLEX
transceiver is able to transmit and receive data at same time and on same frequency which could double capacity of wireless networks. this is hard due to reciprocity(radio waves to travel in both forward and backward directions on same frequency).

3 MOST IMPORTANT USE CASES OF 5G:
1. URLLC(ultra reliable low latency communication)
It refers to using the network for mission critical applications that require uninterrupted and robust data exchange. short packet data transmission is used to meet both reliability and low latency application of WCN(wireless communication)

2. MMTC(massive machine type communication)
It is used to connect large numbers of devices and expected to transform IOT industry.it enable huge volumes of small data packets to be collected from
large number of devices and supports IOT applications that reduces energy consumption.

3. EMBB(enhanced mobile broadband)
It uses 5G as progression from 4G LTE mobile broadband services with more speed, throughput and capacity.it benefits areas of higher traffic such as
stadium, cities and heavy crowded venues. Also enables high data rates across wide area.

APPLICATIONS OF 5G TECHNOLOGY:

  1. High speed mobile network
  2. Entertainment and multimedia
  3. Internet of things-connecting everything: Smart home, Logistics and shipping, smart cities, industries, smart farming, fleet management, healthcare and mission-critical applications, autonomous driving, drone operation, security and surveillance
  4. Satellite internet

FINAL PLOT

5G is one of the most sophisticated wireless technologies we have ever developed so far. It will revolutionize the entire area where the wireless network can be used for efficient and secure communication. The socioeconomic impact of 5G has yet to be analyzed. However, it will make a significant impact on every area where wireless transmission is inevitable.
