Hello, I am here again with an interesting story for you. Today I gonna talk about Reddit. Reddit is probably a name you’ve heard if you spend a lot of time online.

Reddit is an American social news aggregation, content rating, and discussion website. The website’s material, which includes links, text entries, photographs, and videos, is contributed by registered users and is then rated by other users. Posts are arranged into user-made boards called “communities” or “subreddits” according to their subjects. When there are enough upvotes, posts that have received the most upvotes will eventually appear on the first page of the website. The communities on Reddit are moderated by staff members. Additionally, community-specific moderators who are not Reddit employees moderate.

Steve Huffman, Alexis Ohanian, and Aaron Swartz, who were housemates at the University of Virginia, established Reddit in 2005. The website was acquired by Condé Nast Publications in October 2006. Reddit separated from Advance Publications, the parent company of Condé Nast, in 2011. Reddit secured $50 million in fundraising in October 2014 from Sam Altman, Marc Andreessen, Peter Thiel, Ron Conway, Snoop Dogg, and Jared Leto. Their investment valued the company at $500 million then. Reddit raised $200 million in July 2017 for a valuation of $1.8 billion, with Advance Publications continuing to retain the majority of the stock. A $300 million fundraising round spearheaded by Tencent in February 2019 increased the company’s worth to $3 billion. It was valued at over $10 billion in August 2021 following a $700 million fundraising round led by Fidelity Investments. The company allegedly filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in December 2021 with a valuation of $15 billion.

According to Semrush, Reddit is the 6th most-visited website in the United States and the 9th most-visited website overall as of March 2022. The United States makes up between 42 and 49.3% of its user base, followed by the United Kingdom at 7.9 and 8.2% and Canada between 5.2 and 7.8%. Reddit is routinely used by 22% of American adults ages 18 to 29 and 14% of American adults ages 30 to 49.

Reddit is divided into more than a million communities, or “subreddits,” each of which focuses on a distinct subject. A subreddit’s name always starts with “r/,” which is a component of Reddit’s URL. For instance, the National Basketball Association is the topic of the r/nba subreddit, while board games are the topic of the r/boardgames subreddit.
