Why we have an Engineering Blog

At Catawiki, we’re building a very complex product with a wide variety of engineering resources. We face interesting challenges every day. Though some issues can be solved in established ways, a complex system like ours often requires diverse and creative solutions. We modify our approach or even start over — revisiting things from a completely new perspective. We are very proud of our process, our results, and insightful learnings along the way.

This is where our Engineering Blog comes in. We believe there can be value in these solutions and processes for the wider engineering community, especially for those who face similar problems in emerging tech organizations. Moreover, we think sharing our success stories as well as our failures and subsequent learnings can promote reflection and discussions that will contribute to improving our solutions and others’.

What you’ll find here

As mentioned above, every day we face a wide range of challenges in many different areas, including frontend, backend, mobile, infrastructure, data, security, reliability and UX. We also have company-wide discussions on processes crucial to the development of our tech organization — aimed at finding ways to improve our onboarding processes, open source contribution practices, and people’s professional growth. In this blog, we touch upon all those subjects, in articles ranging from guides with possible solutions for very specific technical problems to interviews with Catawikians reflecting on their day-to-day work and professional development.

Who we are

All the contributions to this blog will be made by Catawikians. Expect articles from many different members of our tech organization; a diverse group of software engineers, QA engineers, platform engineers, data scientists, UX specialists, and product managers from over 20 different countries.

We are very happy you’re joining our journey! We look forward to connecting with you in the comments. Also, feel free to drop us a line at tech-blog@catawiki.nl with your questions or topic suggestions for the blog.
