There are few things on Earth greater than witnessing your child succeed.

From spelling tests to swim meets to the big leagues of almost all sports, cheering on offspring in competition is as old as parenting itself.

However, competing alongside your kid is a dream few ever realize.

There’s a lot of chatter in the last year about whether LeBron James will play alongside his son, Bronny, in the NBA. James claims that’s the plan. He wants to play his last season in the NBA with his son.

That would be a first for the NBA, but not for another major league sport.

Ken Griffey Jr was a phenom. He made his Major League Baseball debut for the Seattle Mariners at 19-years old in 1989. He was fast. He could hit. He could hit for power, and he was a monster in the outfield.

“The Kid” eventually entered the Hall of Fame in 2016 on the first ballot with over 99% of the vote (which begs the question, who didn’t vote for him?). But looking back, there was one achievement that he and his father hold alone.

Ken Griffey Sr was also a major leaguer, he was still active when Ken Jr joined him on the Seattle Mariners, and on August 31, 1990, the duo became the first father-son pair to appear in a Major League lineup.

For the record, the pair hit back-to-back singles in their history-making appearance, and both scored runs during the first inning.

Same look all dads give
