A Love Story

A love beyond riches

Catharsis Chronicles

He watched her for a long time, from the corner of the street
His large eyes immediately filled with tears
For he came, just a little, to see her.
And he was sad! Now he felt at peace.

In a white dress, proud, shining
With a wreath glittering beautifully.
With her face white, as if torn from the sun
Stood a girl, looking down.

She seemed sad and very disheartened
Though it was a day of celebration,
A day with musicians and many people
And with a touch of wandering dreams.

And in a beam of light, white, clear
She saw him, as he stood in a secluded corner.
He had been her beloved, in a bitter love
Her parents gave her to a wealthy man.

A poor boy, with no power
And a small house, closer to the street,
He had only his heart as wealth
And an immeasurable love for her.

But what use? “Love is fleeting”
Her parents said, indifferent
That love doesn’t feed you
They want a notable man in their home.

They didn’t think for a moment about the children
Nor about the suffering they caused,
About the pieces of heart, thousands and thousands
Scattered in all the world’s suffering.

With big tears, like dewdrops
With a smile dampened by happiness
She broke the diadem in two
And tore the veil, with gold and sapphires.

She grabbed her dress, all in one hand,
And with the other, she reached out to him
And they ran, holding each other,
Like in a game, mad, beautiful, rebellious.

A heavy rain began to fall
Marking their love, as wealth,
It’s useless to have wealth, money, and house
If you don’t have, a bit of joy.

The moral, dear ones, is this…
Let the child choose in life
Whom they want and whom they love,
The important thing is… they like each other.

If there’s understanding, love, and patience
You can always rise from the ground
To build glittering palaces in the sun
To be loved and… to love beautifully.
