Come back…

My love

When you left, you said you’d return by evening…
It was a never-ending autumn,
But since then spring has passed
And this summer…I don’t know what it will be…

I sit by the window, pensive
And wonder…what has become of you?
And if we’ll ever see each other again…
But who can answer me…who?

I sketch your outline on a sheet of paper,
Imagine you coming toward me,
With tears in my eyes, I write you into poetry,
If only I could dream of you this coming night…

Come back, before it’s too late,
Soon the cold autumn will arrive,
I haven’t learned to be…without you
And my longing for you will never pass.
