Don’t Fan the Flames

Anger just consumes

They light a match
full in your face,
flickering fits
blowing poison.

Trying to inflame
they wish to engulf,
fire in you fueled
don’t fan the flames.

Extinguish before
you there trapped,
freed from fury
anger just consumes.

Walk away from it all
straight over their coals,
released from toxicity
your inner light glows.

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” ― Buddha
