Dreaming Is a Powerful Form of Internal Therapy
It becomes a way to process and regulate emotions in a safe space
I am on a train on narrow rails. The passengers panic as an announcement is made that due to brake failure, the train will have to go past the end stop, and that the end is near. The news must have spread about the “runaway train” because I see people on the platforms of each station standing back as the train passes each station without stopping. Their expressions are a mix of shock and awe.
Someone standing behind me tells me that we will have another 10–15 miles of rail beyond the last stop. That piece of information gives me hope and puts me at ease. With a complete sense of calmness, I tell myself that everything will be alright and I will figure it out. I look forward to what is beyond the last stop.
As we pass the last stop, people in the train are screaming, and the people outside the train are pointing at us, waiting for our doom. I see a distinct change in the terrain and landscape as we cross the last stop. We are now on a bridge, and the scene turns blue, with clear blue skies, clear blue waters, and mountains in the background. I am consumed by the calmness and beauty of the place.
