I Am Just Me
An I Am Poem
I am here for a reason
A reason that’s beyond me
A reason that’s not just me
A story I must craft
A script I must write
For without the words, the emotions know no voice
And this is not just me
It’s every story of every character
I call upon the energy within me to surge
I call upon the elements to come forth
I am all I can be if you let me
But without this universe, I am just me.
I am an island
I stand on the edge of all that is known
With visions that stretch beyond the horizon
Each breath I take is not just my own
It’s the pulse of time, the beat of creation
For I am a vessel of a truth unseen
A whisper carried by winds, deep and keen
I call upon the fire within me to burn
I call upon the tides of life to turn
I am all I can be if you let me
But without this universe, I am just me
I came across this wonderful ‘I Am’ series challenge and this is my first piece indulging in the same.
It has been cathartic mustering up words to define who I think I am or possibly could be.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
Here are a few more brilliant writers from this publication that I have enjoyed reading.
I love the persistence of hope in this piece by Chrysa Stergiou
I absolutely love the craft in this poem by Janaka Stagnaro
