It’s A Wrap
The final curtain falls
The day destined for the end of the show has finally arrived,
The cast alone in their feelings of mixed blessings,
Nothing lasts forever, as we learned through the burns and betrayals,
There’s always that moment of understanding, when the end is facing us down.
Thank you — thank you for the lessons you taught me,
The scar-tissue you forced me to adorn,
The river of tears that hounds my memories,
And the barbs and thorns you gifted me; those that made me forever bleed.
You have made me into the woman I have become,
One of strength, fortitude and honest in my self-worth,
Built me into a force to be reckoned with,
And made me the better woman, ready for the day when I finally meet my person.
You instilled in me the values that I will insist upon from my future,
You gave me the rules and boundaries I’ve now set,
The armour I wear to protect me from those traits I will no longer tolerate,
And hammered into me the red flags I’ll walk away from forever-more.
